'When I realized these kids had more than enough potential, I just smiled. My group wasn't able to get this done but these kids, they were going to get it done. The bond they formed, the willingness to leave everything behind and be themselves. I couldn't think of a time when all eight of my group got along like this.
First, there was me, son of Hermes. Then Alyssa daughter of Zeus. Lezlie the daughter of Athena, Martin son of Hera, Patrick son of Ares, Olivia daughter of Demeter, Theia's kid never identified himself but he was there. Then there was Natalie, daughter of Erebus. As said before he needed to devour a child of all the gods and that meant Seth, was the second son of Zeus. The biggest problem was that I was the only child of Hermes from both adventures. I was it. So if Gornid were to realize I was still alive he would stop at nothing to come kill all nine of us, Eli was a son of Erebus so he was safe for the most part, and his power was immense. I couldn't ever come close to beating him when we sparred. The prophecy had put me and him together to lead this quest, I was unsure as to why but they did.
Realizing this group had a bond and excellence my group didn't was insane to me. I didn't get what the aura of this was but Seth was already a master with his weapon, beating the fastest time we had ever seen on the obstacle course. The others weren't masters, but they for sure had a better chance than we had to win. Gornid killed six of our group. When the time came I was able to teleport myself and one other away so we could prevent him from winning but that person had already shared a god with one of the past fallen demigods. I made sure only I knew where I teleported them to in order to keep them safe and out of the way of the eight. In the worst-case scenario, I just needed to make sure one person was there to spread the word of Gornid and what he was doing.'
I closed my journal. It was the only secure way to think without having to worry about my mind being entrapped or a demigod using the powers they had to see what I was thinking. I locked my journal and put it into a portal that only I could access so that no one knew about my friend who I sent into hiding. I grabbed a pack of cigarettes that I had and began to walk outside I flipped the top open, pulled one out, and lit it up. As I walked I heard clanging in the training room, I was shocked, but knew better than to run in blind somewhere I wasn't aware was safe. I slowly sneaked into the training course mainframe where cameras had been watching all four rooms and in one of them was Eli talking to something, or someone. I clicked on the picture to make it appear bigger and I saw it. It was a purple and black smoke that had created a call across to a different area.
As I listened I realized, the voice I heard from the call. What the hell was he thinking?
"I know I'm already on a time crunch here, they will be ready I promise it," Eli shouted as he looked almost minuscule next to the person he was on the call with.
"Boy, I told you already. I will not be afraid to settle for you and find them later." The person snipped back. His voice boomed like he was speaking in a megaphone with no feedback and it shook my core.
"I know sir but we can't just hope that they develop their powers overnight!" Eli pointed to the back of the room.
"you do remember our little deal correct?" The voice boomed again and as it did Eli began floating and his shirt disappeared into nothing. A purple scar that could only be made from one blade, began glowing across it and Eli screamed in pain.
"That scar will just expand and expand until you ARE SWALLOWED HOLE." It screamed as the scar grew and took over all of his chest.
"Yes sir. I will get them ready and you will have them Gornid." Eli said as my heart sank.
My stomach sank, and my heart stopped beating. The man who was my best friend. Who helped us survive and protected me. The one person in this entire world who I could trust turns out I couldn't anymore. Eli had been setting these kids up to die. Just have no hope or control over the future that they had to save. Over the goddamn world, they were supposed to save. As they were bickering I ran to the rooms where the kids were.
