Before stepping into the bubble that surrounded Elijah and about a two-hundred-foot radius around him, I took one deep breath relaxing my nerves. The thickness of the air made it difficult for my nerves to dial it back a little. I kept walking without thinking of what was behind me and only what was in front of me. Elijah. I wanted to end him, and I wanted it to be quick. The fate of our success weighed on me winning this fight. I had to win no matter the cost.
I stepped into the bubble and the entirety of the surrounding area went black. The only thing visible was me, Elijah, and the ground. It was weird like he wanted to block all the outside noise out. I felt my powers surging in my veins but I didn't spark anything yet. I wanted Eli to make his first move before I even thought about attacking. He sat back down once I walked in. I stared at him as my hand gripped my axe tightly.
"Boy, calm down I want to talk first." He grumbled at me.
"Talk? like how you tried talking to us about Gornid? How we were going to defeat him? Is that why you had Fig do all the talking because you didn't want to lie to us? Just send us to eternal damnation?" I asked while trying to control my temper.
"I would like to say I'm sorry for that but I'm not. I want to stay alive and the only way to do that is to be on Gornid's side. The gods don't care about us. LOOK AT ME. They didn't help when seven of my closest friends were ripped from reality. Gornid can avenge them and give us the revenge we seek. If you don't open your eyes to this you will perish too." He barked at me, and I knew who was holding the leash.
"If you just move, I can get through and take on Gornid and win because the answer is in that Rift and you know it yet you protect it, why? To prove yourself right? To prove the Gods wrong?" I was trying to win this mind game. "Elijah LISTEN to yourself, man. You sound insane."
"Insane? INSANE? You watch him kill Ethan, Ever, Ari, Chase, Mark, Emily, Fig, and Macie. Then you come back to me and call me insane. Tell me that you are the only one, ONLY ONE, that survives and you still want to fight the one being, that killed everyone?"
"Let me think Eli, the man that killed all of my friends? I think I'd want revenge more than to team up with the guy that did it. yeah?"
"Please, you think just how I did but you can't simply say that without living it. Open your mind, you imbecile. Let me help you." He sighed and waved his hands and as he did the bubble began to play a video
Laying around me were all the people's names he listed minus one, Lezlie. I just kept looking and seeing more people. I felt someone grab my leg. Macie. "Seth, help us please." Her face was drenched in blood and tears. I turned and saw the man Fig and I fought. Gornid. I stared at him. Directly in his eyes. I let the lightning in my body overtake my fists. Then up my axe. I wanted to swing at Gornid, instead I aimed it at the ground. Lighting the bubble up and making Elijah fall off balance.
"You're a smart one I give you that." He snarled standing back up, preparing himself.
"No, I've just got heart. Sometimes you just have to not have a reason to leave your team behind, so I'm thinking this runs deeper than your letting on Elijah."
"You know NOTHING about me." He clanged his sword against his shield and charged at me.
He ran right at me leaving himself predictable. He swung his sword as I shot lightning at it, knocking him back, and swinging my axe into his shield knocking him back further. I was in his head.
"You let all this anger eat you alive. Yet you can't do anything about it because it has OVERTAKEN you!" I shouted pointing my axe at him.
"You have no clue what you are saying at this point. You just want me to get mad and keep swinging at you!" I was confused now because that's what he just did.
