Tell me why I decided to come to this party? Maybe it was because my best friend Nichole, convinced me to leave my room and break out of my comfort zone. But was this really the best idea? So far, I've had no fun. No one's approached me other than Nichole and her long-term boyfriend, Tolkien. And even he didn't want to interact with me, he just wanted to make sure all of his possessions stayed in one piece tonight. So I don't blame him, he just wants to host his party.
"Aw c'mon, you've got to be having a little bit of fun." Nichole said, protruding her lower lip to pout.
"The most fun I've had tonight was you doing my makeup. And my outfit is cute too, you did a good job." I didn't want to let her down, so I complimented her. She was so elated to get me out of the house tonight.
"Y/n, that's nothing. Here, let's get you a drink to loosen ya up." Nichole grabbed my arm and led me to the kitchen.
Back to my point from earlier, Tolkien has a damn nice house so I understand him not wanting to stay distracted for too long. Teenagers are reckless and honestly if I were him, I wouldn't want the risk of partying at a place like this.
"So what are we thinking? Clear liquor or something light like Smirnoff?" Nichole has her hands on her hips, standing in the center of the kitchen facing away from me.
"Any Jack?" After spending my last weeks of summer break with Kenny, Jack is about all I drink.
Nichole walks to the fridge (huge by the way), and opens both doors but it doesn't take her long to shut the doors.
"No." Nichole says, still not facing me.
"No? Oh c'mon, I seen Craig walk in with two bottles of Jack Daniel's. Look again."
"Why? I know what I seen, I seen nothing." She's definitely too lazy to check again.
"Because it hardly looked like you checked. Just do a double check. Please?" I start begging.
She rolls her eyes and opens the fridge once more.
"Nothing?" I really don't want to drink anything else, hell I don't even want to drink at all.
"Nothing." Nichole repeats back to me before shutting the doors, finally turning around to face me.
I sigh and walk over to the marble counters. Nichole goes to a large, blue cooler in the corner of the room and opens it.
"Just drink one of these." She pulls out two Mike's Hard Lemonades. One for me, and I'm assuming the other is for her.
I reluctantly take one, "Ugh, I don't want to."
"We lived off these junior year. You'll be fine, they taste delightful." She pops the lid off hers and takes a sip.
"I know, I just don't wa-"
"Wow, you are the last person I thought I'd see tonight." I was cut off by an unhappy voice.
I turn around and am greeted by Craig. Which explains the tone; he wasn't unhappy to see me exactly, he's just Craig Tucker and is never happy to see anyone.
"Why? I spent all summer partying with you." I asked him confusedly.
"Yeah, last summer was three months ago. You haven't been to a party since." One thing about Craig that creeps me out, is his inability to break eye contact.
I look at Nichole to avoid his eyes. "Well, I'm here tonight." I look back at him.
He just hums in response. Clyde walks in and places his hand on Craig's shoulder.
"Hey, what would you do if bought a dog tonight?" He asks before noticing me. "Oh hey, Y/n's here." He points me out as if Craig hasn't already noticed me.
Craig side eyes him. "Where the hell are you getting a dog?"
"The animal shelter is just a few blocks from here. I figured we could run by and pick one up before you take me home."
"You're riding home with Jimmy tonight." Craig removed Clyde's hand from his shoulder. Wow, his hand was sitting there for a while.
"Jimmy can't drive, he's crippled." This caused Nichole to snort. "Also, you already agreed to be designated driver."
"Well, you're shit out of luck then Clyde because I'm not putting a dog in my car." I could hear the frustration start to rise in Craig's voice.
"Clyde, it's late, the shelter isn't open right now. Just wait until tomorrow. That way you can also ask your dad before making this decision." I figured I'd step in to rationalize before Craig starts to really get upset. If it goes on any longer, Clyde will likely wound up with his feelings hurt.
Clyde looks at me and smiles, "Wow, I can't believe you're really here."
I smile back, "I am indeed."
"You're like never here Y/n. So we need to live it up." He has his hands in his pockets and moves his head as he speaks.
"Yes! That's what I've been trying to get her to do all night! Live!" Nichole chimes in excitedly.
"Let's live Y/n. What do you wanna do? There's beer pong; we can team up against Tweek and Craig. They suck. Tweek gets all like twitchy and stuff and never makes it in the cups." This results in Clyde being shoved by Craig, hard.
"He gets anxious, dipwad."
Clyde rubs the place he was shoved and carries on with what he was saying. "If you don't like pong, we can dance. I have great moves."
Clyde starts shuffling around the floor, his shoes squeaking against the tile. The sound is unbearable and his dancing is.. I don't know, but he is cute.
"You're as good of a dancer as Tweek is a pong player." Craig smirks.
"Oh, so you can pick, but I can't?"
Me and Nichole laugh at their bickering. They're cute, we can't help it.
"You're not the one sticking it in him, are you?" Craig raised an eyebrow at the brunette, making his face morph into disgust.
"That's fucking sick. I don't want to hear that."
"I was kidding, shit Donovan. Have fun with your girlfriend." Craig rolls his eyes and walks out of the room.
Girlfriend? Nichole shoots me a smirk and I shoot her a glare. Friendly fire.
Clyde snickers, "Girlfriend. Asshole." He mumbles, before continuing our previous discussion. "So, yes to the dancing?"
I look at the unopened drink in my hand before giving my response. "I don't know, I think I need to drink before I even contemplate dancing in front of all those people."
"That's cool. We can sit out back and chill for a bit if you'd like." He points to the back door behind me.
"That'd be great!" Nichole answers for me.
I fully turn my body towards her and give her the 'what the fuck' look.
She leans in and whispers not so quietly, "You need this." She pulls away and pats my arm. "Have fun."
I watch her as she exits the kitchen, leaving me and Clyde. I look at him and he smiles.
"Wanna talk out there?"
Oh god.
