(Dev's POV)

Morning arrived with an unsettling stillness.

The weight of the previous day's events still hung heavily over me, making the air feel thick and oppressive.

The note, with its chilling message, had found a permanent place in my mind. I got ready, my routine tinged with an urgency I couldn’t quite shake off.

Arriving at the station, I tried to push the anxiety to the back of my mind and focus on the tasks at hand.

I greeted my colleagues, their faces a blend of familiarity and routine, but today everything felt different. The threat had turned my once-comfortable world upside down.

As I settled into my desk, I noticed an envelope lying conspicuously on my chair.

My heart pounded in my chest as I reached for it, my hands trembling slightly.

It was identical to the one I had received at home, and I knew before I opened it that it would contain another message.

I glanced around to see if anyone was watching, but my colleagues were busy with their morning routines.

I tore the envelope open and pulled out a photograph. It was of Myra and me, taken just a few days ago.

Our smiles now ,but knowing that someone had been watching us. Written across the photo in the same bold, aggressive handwriting were the words:

"Tick tock, Dev. Your time is almost up. You won't see it coming."

My blood ran cold as I read the final sentence: "Leave Myra. She is innocent, or she will pay for your sins."

A surge of protectiveness and anger washed over me.

This wasn't just a random threat—it was deeply personal. Whoever this was knew about Myra and had no qualms about dragging her into this mess.

I needed to act, and fast. I took the note and the photograph and walked briskly to Meera's desk. She looked up, surprised by my sudden appearance.

"Meera, I need your help," I said, handing her the note and photograph. Her eyes widened as she read the message.

"Dev, this is serious. We need to get you and Myra some protection," she said, echoing my thoughts from the previous night.

"I know, but we need to keep this low-key. If we scare them off, we might lose our chance to catch them."

Meera nodded, understanding the delicate balance we had to maintain.

"Alright. Let's start by going through the list of people who might have a grudge against you. There must be something we're missing."

We spent the next few hours sifting through files and making discreet inquiries.

Meera contacted a few trusted informants, hoping to get a lead on anyone who might be planning something against me.

The station buzzed with activity, but I was in my own world, laser-focused on finding the person behind the threats.

As the day wore on, we narrowed down a few suspects. Aarav's name came up , but it still didn't feel right.

The memories of that fateful night came flooding back.

Aarav had been my best friend since childhood. Our bond had been unbreakable, or so I thought.

But his descent into illegal activities in the medical field had forced me to arrest him.

The operation had been a nightmare—Shanaya, Aarav's girlfriend and a close friend of mine, had been caught in the crossfire.

She had been two days away from marrying Aarav when I was ordered to shoot.

She jumped in front of Aarav, taking the bullet meant for him. I had rushed her to the hospital, but she didn't make it.

Aarav was arrested, but the guilt of Shanaya's death had never left me.

Frustration mounted as the hours passed with no clear lead.

I decided to take a break and step outside for some fresh air. The city was alive and bustling, completely unaware of the turmoil raging inside me.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I saw a message from Myra.

"Hey, everything okay? You sounded really tense this morning."

I hesitated before replying, not wanting to worry her further.

"Yeah, just some work stuff. Be careful, okay?"

"Always. You too."

I pocketed my phone and took a deep breath. This was my fight, and I couldn't let Myra get caught in the crossfire.

Returning to the station, I felt a renewed determination. I needed to find whoever was behind this and put an end to their plans.

By late afternoon, Meera had compiled a list of potential suspects.

We decided to split up and follow up on the leads, hoping to find any clue that might point us in the right direction.

I took a few files and headed out, my mind racing with thoughts of what might come next.

As I visited each location and questioned people, I kept an eye out for anything suspicious.

The threat of the second note hung over me, a constant reminder that time was running out.

Returning to the station in the evening, I felt a mix of exhaustion and frustration.

We had gathered some information, but nothing definitive. Meera and I compared notes, trying to piece together the puzzle.

"Dev, we'll find them," Meera said, her voice firm with determination.

"I know. We have to," I replied, my resolve hardening.

The second note had raised the stakes, but it also fueled my determination.

This wasn't just about me anymore—it was about protecting Myra and stopping whoever was behind this..
