Instead of getting curious. Mercury stayed where he was and didn't move. He didn't want to be a next target. Because he had over heard everything that they said. He wanted to stay out of the way. he decided He would let what was going on happen and would just try to sleep through it. Even though I don't think that was possible. But he wanted to give it try anyway. Because sleeping is better than witnessing this.
