TAYLOR'S POV:
"Ugh Meredith!" I yell as soon as I realize my cat escaped the house again. Stupid Austin. I think. He needs to learn how to shut a door when coming into a house!
I chase her around our house for a while until she runs into the barn with all the horses.
"Meredith! Where are you?" I say out loud. A small "Meow," comes from behind me and I whip around to see my cat sitting there, licking her paws as if nothing happened.
"You silly girl. One day you're going to escape all the way to Springer Woods and go missing!" I say as I scoop her into my arms. I walk out of the barn and back over to the house. Once inside I glare at Austin.
"Austin you have got to learn how to shut a door!"
He laughs before saying, "Sorry. It's not my fault your little cat likes being outside more than inside."
I roll my eyes at his words and trudge up the stairs and into my room. I place Meredith down and walk over to my desk where all my writing tools are. I sit down, pick up a piece of paper and a pencil, and stare out the window, hoping to get some inspiration for a new song. While staring out of the window I notice something moving around in the trees surrounding our house and farm. I lean closer to inspect the shadowy figure. I jolt in surprise when I realize it's a person in a long cloak, staring right at me. I wave to the person thinking maybe it's Selena or Ed, but then realize that the figure is way too tall to be either on of them. I get up and run downstairs to tell my brother.
"Austin! I think there's someone out there!" I exclaim once I get to him.
"What? Where?" He responds.
"By the edge of Springer Woods surrounding the house! Come on, quick, before they leave!" We run out the house and I lead to the part of the wooded area facing my bedroom window. Once we get there the figure is gone. We were too late.
"No one is here, Taylor. Don't tell me this is another one of your stupid pranks."
"No, I swear someone was right there! I saw them standing there, staring at me!" I say while pointing to where the shadow was standing moment before.
"You're crazy, you're just trying to get back at me for letting your cat out." He says while moving to get back inside. "Plus, why would someone be out here anyway? We're surrounded by trees and it's freezing out."
"I could've sworn... I don't know, maybe I'm going crazy." I shake my head and walk back inside after Austin. I go back upstairs to get ready for bed. I walk over to my dresser and pick out my favorite green nightgown. I change into it and head over to the bathroom. I rinse my face and use the toilet before heading back into my bedroom and before getting into bed, I look out my window just for good measure. There it is again. The cloaked figure is back!
I go over to the window and glare at the figure. Why did they leave when Austin showed up? I must be going crazy. They're not real. I'm just making things up.
I walk back over to my bed and lay down. Maybe I just need some sleep. The last thing I think before drifting off into sleep is that shadow figure. Why was it here? What did it want?
