With the help of Eddie and Kim, Rachel made it into her office. Eddie held onto her tightly as she battled through another contraction. His heart threatened to break as she cried out and whimpered in pain.
The contraction melted away, she sighed in relief as she sank into the sofa. Eddie sat in front of her, taking her hands into his own. She smiled at him softly.
"Are you ok?" He asked
She nodded, resting her head on the cushion behind her.
"I'm going to call for an ambulance, alright?" He decided
"Ok" she whispered tiredly, rubbing her stomach gently
Eddie grabbed his phone out of the desk drawer, dialling 999. He was connected to a call handler almost immediately. Once it had been confirmed that an ambulance was on its way, he hung up the phone, returning to sit by Rachel.
"The ambulance is on its way, darling. Don't worry, ok?" he told her, rubbing her knee comfortingly
Rachel nodded, reaching her hand out for him as she shifted uncomfortably.
"It hurts" she whimpered
"I know, love. You're doing so well. It won't be much longer now" he promised
Rachel groaned, sitting forwards as she wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her head in his shoulder. Eddie wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her further into him as he placed a soft kiss on her temple. Rachel lifted her head up, gazing at him as she smiled softly.
"I love you" she whispered
Eddie smiled back.
"I love you too"
