"Whatever he's paying you...I'll double it" the man at the bar repeated his words to you a little louder this time so you could be sure at what you heard.

Work was super busy this weekend.
The county fair had been in town and with it pulled punters in left, right and centre to the little bar you were working at.

The room was buzzing with noise from all angles.
The overlapping of so many different customers conservations, the juke box blaring the same 8 songs over and over and the hustle and bustle of both the kitchen, table and bar staff, trying to serve each and every one of their visitors in quick succession.

"Double it huh?" You laughed at the words as he sat in front of you.
Pouring another punters drink whilst still talking to him.
You had no idea who he was, a stranger of course.
You had never set eyes on him before tonight but you were pulled towards him.
As soon as he stepped into the bar, you were like a moth to a flame.

So many different faces you had seen tonight alone and yet his shone out at you.
You knew he was there before you even saw him.
He wasn't like any other being you had met before.

For one he was a vamp, made obvious by the very light complexion he had mixed with the darkness behind his eyes.

You had your fair share of vampire customers as well as other supes and normal beings of course.

But none had been like him.

"I'm serious" he said whilst a slight smirk forming across his face now.

You placed the pint you were pouring down on the bar, the contents of it spilling out a little from the top, as the customer you had served handed over his cash.
"You don't even know what kind of experience I have!" You laughed again as you wiped the spillage with one hand whilst giving back the customers change with the other.
Shutting the till using your hip as both your hands were full, the vamp smiled at how you were multi tasking and yet you didn't realise it.
"I'm sure you're experienced enough" he said as he took a swig from the bottle of synthetic blood you had sold him a few minutes before.

"Hey, can we get a couple of beers for table 6 darling?" Both you and him looked at the guy shouting you from the end of the bar.

"Table service is dealt with the table staff sir" you smiled sweetly at him.
"If you just wave at them, get their attention, they'll be with you short..." you started to explain that you only served those at the bar whilst customers sat at the tables were served by the waiting staff.

"I asked you lady! You think I'm stupid or something?" The man huffed at you.
Taking you by surprise as you didn't really get rude customers here that often.
Being in such a remote town, every one knew everyone almost.
Which was sometimes good and sometimes bad.

"And I'm telling you...sir" you added on the last word with a little sass "table staff serve the tables, I serve the bar" you looked at him dead in the eye as you answered him.
"Excuse me?? But I!!" You can tell the obnoxious man wanted an argument but his tone made the vampire sat before you, rise to his feet.
His towering height caused the rude customer to stop what he was about to say to you.
You were just as impressed at how tall he was now as much as you were when you first laid eyes on him.
His dirty blonde hair was slicked back as it contrasted against his black jacket and even blacker jeans.
Not saying a word, he simply told the man that this conversation was over between you both just by body language alone and so, the asshole sulked his way back to the table his friends were at without so much as glance back to you.

"Wow" you say to your knight in shining armour as he sits back down "would I be expecting that type of security too if I take you up on your offer?" you giggled.

"Oh for sure" he replied "I always protect what's mine"

His words were a strange choice you first think to yourself but then quickly shrugged them off as your next customer at the bar was waiting to be served.
