Taylor Hanes
November 2023
Los Angeles, California

"TAYLOR come with me to the mall, Ion wanna go alone!" Her twin brother Xavier, yelled before barging into her room.

He knew she would probably say no but it's nothing a little begging couldn't fix.

She flinched at his loud voice as his yelling hurt her ears, but she decided to not bring it up. "No."

Her facial expression stayed blank, she was just waiting for him to leave her room already.

She never understood him.. if he already knew how she was then why did he constantly approach her?

Family or not, she hated human interaction. She was barely even capable of being in the same room as him for too long.. so what made him think she possibly wanted to go to a mall?

"Cmon pleaseee, we don't have to talk or anything. I just wanted yo' presence so I don't look like a lone wolf,"

Her face scrunched up in confusion at his last sentence, the hell was he talking about now? "A lone what?"

"A lone wolf, it means a loner basically. Nothing too complicated,"

"Oh ok, thanks for the explanation.."

The two siblings sat in an uncomfortably awkward silence, but they were used to it by now. Taylor never talked, and if she did it was only when she was replying to someone.

Even then her words were short, she never spoke for more than 10 seconds.

But when she was alone she could be the biggest chatter box ever, not that anyone would ever know though. The most she ever talked was to herself.

Xavier always had a hard time bonding with her because of it, but he never stopped trying.

"So you really not gon' come to the mall with me? I'll buy you some hibachi.." He bargained and she contemplated on if it was worth it or not.

Leave the comfort of her bed or go outside where millions of people could stare and judge her if they chose to? Yeah, absolutely not.

"I already said n-"

"I'll buy you some more Ed Hardy's!"

"Okay then, I guess I'll go.."

She instantly regretted her decision as soon as they entered the mall. It was way too loud for her, and the lights were starting to make her lightheaded.

Not to mention she'd already caught a group of girls staring her down, she immediately thought they were judging her.

Especially with the way they were pointing and staring at her, most of them had such mean looks— they were clearly mugging her.

She recalled one of the girls flicking her off as the others just laughed.

It made her feel horrible, she just wanted to go back home already. Of course she wasn't the best looking person, but nobody's perfect right?

She never understood why some girls tried so hard to put other girls down, what happened to uplifting each other?

They were making her feel like she was in high school.. getting bullied all over again. She could feel herself getting ready to hyperventilate and she didn't need to be causing a scene in a public place. That would just give the girls something else to laugh about.
