[Six months ago, 05:59 pm. Miroh Community Park]
After today, Jisung was thankful to be able to stroll around, chocolate drink in hand. The park was empty, thankfully so.
There was a path on the far left of the park that led to a bridge overlooking the wide river. In the early hours, citizens were allowed to take a swim, but after 5 pm, it was best for them to come out of the water.
Jisung sighed into the cool evening air.
He managed to change out of his Hero uniform, and without his JOne mask, no one would be able to recognise him as the third top Hero.
Chan was on patrol duty tonight, Changbin was out with his family, Seungmin was in the hospital, and Jisung didn't want to come home to an empty apartment. So, he found himself here.
Jisung strolled across the entirety of the park, aiming to lean against the bridge's rails, stare into the river and gaze at the sunset. Cheesy, yeah?
It wasn't until he reached the foot of the bridge did he realize that someone was already there, their tall figure leaning against the railing.
Jisung, though he felt disappointed, decides to stay at a bench instead. He's not exactly keen on sharing small talk right now. As he's turning away, he sees the person... move onto the railing. They're not leaning against it anymore, they're full-on climbing it!!
And Jisung isn't stupid. He knows an attempt when he sees one.
So, he yells as loud as he can, "Hey!!"
They don't seem to hear him as they're further across the bridge, but Jisung drops his chocolate drink, and darts towards them.
If Jisung was in his uniform at the moment, he could've just flicked his wrist and he'd be right there. But he's not in uniform. And using his powers now would give away his identity.
And yeah, saving someone should be his priority, rather than keeping his face a secret, but at this point, it was instinct.
It was like slow motion as he saw how the person began to sway towards the river. Jisung felt an adrenaline rush, and the only thing that echoed in his mind was 'Not again, not again, not again,' repeatedly.
He had to save that person. There were too many people who died in the past months, and Jisung wasn't about to let the number increase. He ran, the wind blowing his hair wildly as he came to close the distance between him and the person.
"What are you doing?!" He manages to grab the person's forearm, jerking him away from the edge. He's lucky the person was caught off guard, otherwise, they might've resisted even more. Jisung pulls him down, using his back to cushion the fall. The man goes limp, his black hair hiding whatever emotion sat on his face.
"Are- are you okay?" Jisung murmurs into the man's hair, who now lays on him, his face buried into Jisung. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
For a few moments, the man doesn't reply, but soon, Jisung can feel how his shoulders shake as he tries to muffle his sobs.
Jisung was never the best at comforting strangers, but although his words couldn't help, he knew his physical language could ease a person's mind.
For now, he pats the man's back, stroking his hair, and let him feel what he needed to, and release whatever cry he had to.
When he feels that the man quiets down, he pulls the two of them up into a sitting position, making the man lean against the railings. With a hand on the man's knee, he says, "I want to help," Jisung gently clears the other's hair away from his face. "Let me help you?"
