"You? You want to be a Hero?" The man's taunting voice bounced off the walls."Weren't you the kid whose parents experimented on? Didn't that go so wrong?"

Yongbok feels the need to throw up, specifically on this old, crusty bastard.

The man turns away, "I don't want to associate myself with you, Mr. Lee. Please leave my office,"

"Now, hold on-" Yongbok says, heart thumping rather loudly, "-What does me being... 'experimented' on have to do with anything?"

Logically, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Sure, his parents sustained major injuries and died within a few hours of concluding the project, but like. How is that an obstacle?

Yongbok wrings his hands in his lap, gazing timidly at the man. He calls him the man because he genuinely doesn't remember his name, and he thinks he shouldn't use much of his brain space to remember it anyway. Not with how he's been speaking to him. All he knows is that the dude's name starts with a P or something.

"Well for one," The man finally says, after releasing a heavy sigh, "You could be messed up as a Hero. Who knows what that experiment has done to your brain? Secondly, your powers, if I can even call them that, are deadly. Inhumane, Mr. Lee. I simply cannot have a potentially aggressive intern in my agency."

Yongbok? Aggressive? Really? He's got all the paperwork to prove just how calm and under control he is. He's never harmed a single living soul. Ever.

And he tells this to the rude man, ready to trek back to Minho's car to grab the folder containing the paperwork he speaks of. He moves to the edge of his seat, clearly getting impatient.

"If you could just let me try, even for just a year sir, I promise I can be just as good-" Yongbok isn't sure if he's allowed to lash out at him for raising a hand to his face to shut him up. He decides he'd probably get into more trouble if he did, so he suppresses a huff as the dude starts to babble.

"Dear god, you remind me of that other Lee boy. You know, he had a situation similar to yours, and he came begging to me as well," He grumbles, taking a seat and burying his face in his right palm. "I told him the same thing I am telling you now; you won't ever have a chance in the Hero industry. If your powers weren't dangerous, maybe you'd have a chance. I'm sure your parents would agree, Mr. Lee. They're not one to let their only son risk his life, don't you think?"

Well.

Who does he think he is to speak for his (dead) parents like that? Did he even know them personally? Also, if his powers were dangerous, wouldn't that be better for them? It would be hazardous for the Heroes, but deadly to their enemies, no? What kind of logic is this dude using? His parents would want him to use his supposedly inhumane powers for good, that's like, one of the things they asked of him every day if their little project ever succeeded.

Yongbok really, really wants to roll his eyes. He wants to huff through his nose, but he closes his eyes and counts to four.

Maybe this was why this agency specifically had such a small population. There was only one successful Hero from this agency, StarKim. He'd only debuted a few months ago too.

"Excuse me?" The man says, a hint of disbelief in his voice.

"Huh?" Yongbok chirps, now broken out of his little trance.

"You dare slander my agency like that?" He growls, and oh shit. Yongbok did not just say that out loud, did he?

Oh, he's so fucked now. Haha.
