Mocha gazed nervously at her dad who seemed to nearly drop in panic right in front of them all. She's never seen him so, so conflicted and she didn't know what to think of it. So as simple as a man bigger and stronger, scary looking as this Mr.Wright is, she wanted to talk over him and demand respect for her father.
"Sir, please. I understand where your frustration is coming from but this is not the right way to tell her." Her mother came to stand next to her father, she pleaded with her. "Dumping the news to her this way may trigger stress or even unnecessary emotions."
Mocha stood there, not sure what to feel or if she was even part of this. She was so confused and not sure exactly what they were going on about. What she did know though, was that it involved her and she didn't like that. It left her feeling uneasy.
Mr.Wright had sighed so loudly, his hand running on his hair, before he turns to Mocha. "Let me speak to her alone." Mocha immediately froze, feeling unsettled fear strike her even worse than before. "I will not mention anything to her, just a moment alone with her."
"Right now?"
"Yes, Edward." Mr.Wright frowned slightly, looking at Mocha with an expression she still couldn't read. "Alone, and right now."
Mocha gazed at her parents who shared unsettling looks of discomfort. She never seen her parents look so uneasy and worried before. It nerved her and left her upset.
"Rachel will lead you two somewhere private." Mocha immediately stiffened in her own skin. She couldn't believe what she heard her father say. As her mother moved forward and grabbed her hand, she shook her head at her.
"Mom?" She pleaded, "I-I don't want to be a-alone with him..." she held her mothers sad eyes, who refused to keep them together and instead looked away in fear if breaking down. "Come here, sweetie..."
As they walked to the back yard, she felt his big and bulky frame following behind them. Her no way was rigid and she refused to cry or panic. Her head was all over the place, and breathing slightly too heavy. Her mother opened the double glass doors to the back yard.
The beautiful garden greeted them, and the sun kissed her face harshly. Her mom led them all the way to the bench situated at the far corner of the garden, right next to the rose bushes.
She stopped and turned to Mr.Wright. "I'll take my leave." He mother said to the stranger, before turning to her. Mocha was clearly holding back tears, and she was trembling, doing a horrible job at staying calm. "Behave okay? Everything will be fine." She said, caressing her cheeks before unwillingly letting her arms go.
She silently watched her mom walk away, immediately struggling to stay on her feet. Carelessly sitting on the bench, she looked die at her feet, hands intertwined nervously on her thighs. Feeling the eyes of this unknown man. It unsettled her and she felt like disappearing from there, shielding herself from his gaze.
Mocha jumped slightly when he moved to sit next to her on the bench, she willingly shifted far from him, creating enough space between them. She didn't want to be anywhere close to him, something about him just felt off and she wasn't sure what exactly it was.
After much needed time, she finally collected her breathing and gazed at the beautiful daisies growing bush far at her left. Pushing herself into this world where she felt her body immediately calming down. Isolating her mind from overthinking and simply because she didn't want to acknowledge the man right next to her.
After a few minutes, which she was sure was exactly five, he spoke up. "My Ruby loves flowers too." His words left her confused as her brows came together.
Turning, she turned to look at him but he had his eyes narrowed slightly at the daisies she was staring at seconds ago. He seemed jut as gone in his head as she was. "Huh?"
