I know my father wouldn't just invite the Cassidy family to dinner for no reason at all, but the words coming out of his mouth feel surreal to me.

I couldn't have expected this in all my years being his daughter.

He is forcing this random, innocent girl to marry Richard?
I can't believe this.

I'm sure Elizabeth would have no trouble finding a proper marriage candidate by herself, but I cannot say the same for my brother, he's a self centered, rude prick.

As chatter of approval fills the room, I reach a hand up to my cheek, wiping the dirt off my face.

I cough, standing in my seat.

" Ignore my rudeness, but does lovely Elizabeth have a say in this matter? " I pause. " It is her life you are giving away after all. "

" Kalese-- " my father begins.

" Off with it. I'd be speaking up about how Richard doesn't want this eaither, but he'd do anything to get into a girls pants. "

I glance over at Elizabeth who I see is stifling a giggle.

I fall back to my seat. " Im done with wasting my energy on this. " I shake my head.

" Kalese Boleyn. I warned you this was a important dinner, yet you show up in your sleep atire, dirt on tour faces and pull this little stunt on me? " he pauses.
" You are entirely aware of how rude you are being, and infrount of our esteemed guests? " He glances around the table, and I follow his eyes to Elizabeth's father. "I'm ashamed to do this but please, make your way to your bedroom right this minute. "

I stand once more, my chair screeching backwards. I pick up my hancercheif in my my hands, gently and swiftly fold it.
"I apologize for interupting, but I do believe my views to be correct." I storm away, leaving the table silent.

I may be rude but I'm not a monster, I know how important connections are to my father.

I walk down the hall, only looking back when I hear another pair of heels behind me.
Elizabeth is dashing down the hall.

" Oh goodness, " she exclaims as she trips on the bottom of her dress and I catch her.

" I'm saving you in more ways than one I see. " I joke.

She coughs standing up straight. " I just wanted to say thank you for standing up for me--"

" You're welcome. " I say, pulling her behind one of the intricately carved mardle pillars that line the hallway.

" --But, it's alright. I'll marry him if that's my fathers wishes. "

" But do you want to? I can't have you suffer for another old man's sake. "

She sighs, wiping a finger over her eyelashes. " I shouldnt have even tried with you. " She steps back, turning to go back to the dinner table.

" Go back to the old people, then. " I mutter. " See if I care. "

" I know you care about a lot of things. What those old people think about you for one. " She says.

My jaw drops.
" Okay, so you want to marry him? "

" No. " she says.

" Then what do you want!? I could help you yknow. "

" I want to help my family, and if my father believes me marrying your brother helps, I'll do that. " She pauses.
" We weren't always like this, my father grew up poor. I don't want my future generations to have to live like that. "

I sigh, " Okay, it's your decision, and I'll respect that from now on. " I sigh, " I promise. "

I reach my hand out for her to shake,
" Friends? "

She sighs, " Only if you promise not to make anymore trouble. " She shakes my hand.
