I pull over at Alex Hidalgo's residence and sit for a moment, gripping the steering wheel. It takes me a while to leave my car, but I eventually do, because I agreed to do this. What was I thinking? I don't know anything about babies. I take a deep breath and look around, scanning the area for any sign of reporters. To my relief, I don't find any. A warm feeling spreads across my chest, easing some of my anxiety.

I walk up the path to the front door and ring the bell. After a few moments, I hear footsteps approaching from inside. The door swings open to reveal a young man, probably in his late teens or early twenties. A dog, a German Shepherd, curls itself around his legs. The young man smiles and calls out over his shoulder to whoever else is home.

"Hey, someone's here!" he shouts, stepping aside to let me in.

“Aunt Jodie, you didn't tell me she was Pretty!” He shoots me a careless smile. Oh to be younger again.

“Shut up, Justin!” Comes a female voice from inside. I suddenly get the feeling that it's not just the new mom and her new born,

My feelings are validated when, Justin? Leads me into the house with a German Shepherd circling around us. It almost freaks me out.

“That's just Zac, and he's very friendly.” Justin assures me as we walk into the house.

“I don't see friendly and huge German shepherd in the same sentence.” I snort.

“With Zac? Ma'am I think you need to do a rethink.” He chuckles. “Right Zac?” He asks the German shepherd who just keeps circling around.

And I was right. I don't know them perfectly by name, but I recognize their faces. The Captain's Wife, the Defender's Wife, and the Right Winger's Wife are all seated across two sofas, chatting comfortably. As I take in the scene, Nadia pops out of the kitchen area with the New Mom, both of them smiling and holding trays of snacks and drinks.

I almost want to ask how the young man who answered the door is related to them, but I keep my mouth sealed. The Defender's Wife seems to read my mind.

"That's my brother-in-law," she says, catching my curious glance. "Justin Stones. He just got accepted into Crestview U."

"Huh?" I respond, surprised. I realize I’ve spoken out loud again—seems I’ve been doing that a lot lately.

Justin beams with pride as he steps forward. "Yeah, just got the acceptance letter last week, not that Miss Martins here cares," he says.

The New Mom places a hand on his shoulder, smiling warmly. "We’re all very proud of him."

I nod, trying to focus on the conversation and not my nerves.

Crestview U?

“You wouldn't stop bragging would you?” Justin folds his hands.
