In the beginning of time, all there was empty space, taking the form of a goddess named Chaos. She lived alone in the universe, feeling very lonely. With the power that holds dominion over life and death, she decided to create her own off springs.
She gave birth to Tartarus, ruler of the Underworld; Gaia, the Earth; Eros, Desire; Erebus, the Darkness; and Nyx, the Night. Chaos felt complete when her children were born. She could never be angry with her children because they gave her hope and joy.
As they grew up, they became strong and powerful, as was their destiny. Chaos was amazed to see her children grow up so quickly and start their own families. Feeling that her time had come, she left her children to live their lives and went into a deep sleep, disappearing from the universe.
Her children were heartbroken to find that their mother had vanished but they had no choice but continued with their lives, but only Nyx couldn't accept her mother's disappearance.
