Daniel addressed Jamie with an air of authority: "Alright, Jamie, let's see what you can do. I want you to recreate the classic Coq au Vin we made for the menu. You have everything you need in this kitchen."

Jamie's eyes widened as she looked at the dish before her. The Coq au Vin was a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors and textures that seemed impossible to replicate. The chicken was braised to perfection, tender and succulent, bathed in a rich, deep red wine sauce that glistened under the kitchen lights. The complex reduction sauce was a perfect balance of savory and sweet, infused with garlic, pearl onions, mushrooms, and smoky bacon. Fresh herbs like thyme and bay leaves floated delicately in the broth, adding an aromatic depth that made her mouth water.

The staff gathered their expressions, a mix of curiosity and doubt. They exchanged skeptical glances, whispering as Jamie stepped forward, her heart pounding. The Coq au Vin was no ordinary dish—it was a testament to French culinary tradition, demanding precision, patience, and an intuitive understanding of flavor.

Ethan, sensing Jamie's nerves, stepped closer. "You've got this, Jamie. Show them what you're made of. Remember, you can do this."

Jamie took a deep breath, nodding. "Thanks, Ethan. I'll try my best."

Ethan hugged her tightly. "I know you will. I'll be back later to hear all about it." He pulled back, looking into her eyes with determination. "You're the best chef I know. Don't let them intimidate you. This is your moment. Show them who you are."

Jamie's heart swelled with gratitude. "Thanks, Ethan. I needed that."

Ethan headed out with one last encouraging smile, leaving Jamie to face the challenge. As he walked away, Jamie felt a surge of determination. She could do this. She had to.

Mia approached Jamie with a mix of irritation and grudging responsibility. "Follow me. I'll show you where everything is," she said, her tone laced with sarcasm.

Mia exaggeratedly pointed out the various stations, equipment, and ingredients as she led Jamie around the kitchen. "Here's the pantry, the fridge, the spice rack. Everything you need is here. Try not to mess up—not that it matters much."

Jamie nodded, taking mental notes. She approached the dish that Daniel had pointed out. It was a beautifully prepared Coq au Vin, its rich aroma making her mouth water. She took a small bite, closing her eyes to savor the flavors.

"Oh my god," Jamie exclaimed, her eyes still closed. "The wine, it's so rich and deep. The garlic and onions are perfectly balanced, and the bacon adds this amazing smokiness. The herbs—thyme and bay leaves—give it such depth. If I add just a bit more garlic, I can enhance the savory notes. And maybe a touch of citrus to brighten it up."

Mia rolled her eyes, her expression a mix of annoyance and disbelief. "Can you keep your thoughts to yourself, or is that too much to ask?"

Jamie blinked, realizing she'd been speaking out loud. "Sorry, I tend to do that. But trust me, I can make this even better."

The kitchen staff watched her, some with raised eyebrows, others with crossed arms. They whispered amongst themselves, doubting Jamie's ability to pull off the dish.

Jamie paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "This is it, Jamie. You've faced more demanding challenges. Just focus on what you know and trust your instincts." She meticulously began her work, her hands moving with practiced ease. She chopped, sautéed, and simmered, each step executed with precision. As she prepped the chicken, she explained her process out loud. "I need to sear the chicken to get a good crust. The caramelization will add so much flavor."The staff watched in awe, their skepticism slowly turning to fascination. One cook whispered, "She's pretty good," earning a glare from Daniel.
