Chapter 1: The Awakening

Nile Van was just another face in the crowd, a mid-level office worker scraping by in a bustling city. His life was a monotonous routine of work, sleep, and the occasional night out. But all that changed the day the world was introduced to the 'Awakened.'

In an instant, massive gates appeared across the globe, spewing forth monsters and unleashing chaos. Simultaneously, people began to develop extraordinary powers, and those who awakened to these abilities were humanity's new front line of defense.

Nile watched in awe as the news showed footage of these superhumans battling monstrous creatures, their powers varying from elemental control to enhanced physical prowess. However, Nile had resigned himself to the fact that he was just a bystander in this new world order.

But fate had different plans. One fateful night, while returning home from work, Nile stumbled upon a glowing, ancient-looking book in a dark alley. Intrigued, he picked it up, and as he opened the first page, a blinding light engulfed him.

When Nile came to, he found himself in a vast, empty space. Before him stood a figure cloaked in shadows, its eyes glowing an eerie blue.

"Welcome, Nile Van," the figure intoned. "You have been chosen."

"Chosen for what?" Nile managed to ask, his voice trembling.

"To inherit the power of the Omniscient Vanguard," the figure replied. "Your path will be fraught with danger, but you will possess knowledge beyond any other. You will see the world through the eyes of the gods."

With that, the book in Nile's hands burst into flames, and the knowledge of countless battles, strategies, and powers flooded his mind. He fell to his knees, gasping as his body adapted to this newfound power.

When the light faded, Nile found himself back in the alley, the book gone but the knowledge and power still resonating within him. He felt a surge of energy like never before. His phone buzzed, breaking the silence. It was a notification from the newly established Hunter Association, an organization that coordinated the efforts of Awakened individuals.

"Alert: Gate opening detected near your location. Level D. Requesting immediate assistance."

Nile hesitated for a moment, then clenched his fists. He wasn't just an ordinary man anymore. It was time to step up.
