Hardik and KL Rahul had always been casual acquaintances in school, moving in different circles but sharing a few classes here and there. Hardik had admired Rahul from afar since eighth grade, captivated by his charm and easygoing nature. However, shyness got the better of him, and he never summoned the courage to approach Rahul.

The school year eventually ended, and everyone moved on to their summer holidays. One sunny afternoon, a group of former classmates, including Hardik and his close friend Ishan, decided to hang out by the pond. As they lounged around, conversations flowed easily until Ishan, in a fit of carelessness, let something slip.

"Did you guys know Hardik had the biggest crush on Rahul back in school?" Ishan blurted out, laughing.

Hardik's face turned crimson. "Ishan! What the hell, man?"

Laughter erupted among the group, but the damage was done. Unbeknownst to Hardik, Rahul's friend Rohit was part of the crowd, and he immediately texted Rahul about this newfound revelation.

Later that week, Hardik was at the supermarket, minding his own business, when he saw a familiar face in the cereal aisle. It was Rahul, casually picking up a box of Cornflakes. Hardik's heart pounded, and he debated making a swift exit, but Rahul spotted him first.

"Hey Hardik," Rahul called out, waving.

"Oh, hi Rahul," Hardik managed to reply, forcing a smile.

Rahul walked over, a playful grin on his face. "So, I heard something interesting from Rohit the other day."

Hardik's stomach dropped. "Oh? What was that?"

"Apparently, you had a crush on me back in school," Rahul said, raising an eyebrow.

Hardik felt like the ground could swallow him whole. "Uh... yeah, about that..."

Rahul chuckled. "Relax, it's cool. Actually, I wanted to tell you something too."

Hardik looked up, confused. "What do you mean?"

"I kind of liked you too," Rahul admitted, a little shyly. "But I never thought you'd feel the same way."

"Wait, seriously?" Hardik was stunned. "You liked me?"

"Yeah, I did," Rahul nodded. "I guess we were both too scared to say anything."

There was a brief, awkward silence before Rahul spoke again. "So, what do you say we go grab a coffee or something? Catch up properly?"

Hardik's face lit up. "I'd like that."

They left the supermarket together, both feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. The coffee date went smoothly, with laughter and shared memories, and before they knew it, they were regularly seeing each other.

As Hardik and Rahul transitioned from high school to college, their relationship evolved along with their surroundings. They found themselves sharing a dorm room in their freshman year, a situation that brought both excitement and a touch of nervousness.

"So, this is it," Rahul said, tossing his backpack onto one of the beds. "Our new home away from home."

"Yeah," Hardik replied, looking around the room. "It's nice."

Rahul grinned. "Nice? Come on, it's awesome! We're going to have the best time here."

Hardik smiled back, feeling a sense of relief that Rahul seemed just as enthusiastic about their new living arrangements. "Yeah, it should be fun."

Their first few weeks were a mix of getting settled into college life, attending orientation events, and adjusting to their classes. Being both popular and now openly a couple brought them a fair share of attention from their peers.

One evening, they were hanging out in the common room of their dorm, studying together while Ishan lounged on the couch, scrolling through his phone.

"Dude, I swear you guys are like the college's power couple or something," Ishan remarked, without looking up. "Everywhere I go, people are either swooning over you two or cringing so hard they're practically folding in on themselves."

Hardik chuckled, shaking his head. "I don't know about that. We're just trying to survive like everyone else."

Rahul nudged him playfully. "Oh, come on. Admit it, we're pretty awesome."

"Just don't let it get to your heads," Ishan teased, finally looking up from his phone. "But seriously, it's cool to see you guys together."

Their relationship continued to strengthen as they navigated college life together—studying late into the night and attending parties.

One afternoon, as they sat together on a bench near the campus fountain, Rahul turned to Hardik with a soft smile. "You know, I'm really glad we ended up here together."

Hardik leaned into him, resting his head on Rahul's shoulder. "Me too. I couldn't imagine doing this without you."

Rahul wrapped an arm around him, gazing out at the bustling campus. "Here's to many more adventures together.

PRESENT TIME

Hardik and Rahul stood outside the old, supposedly haunted palace, the moon casting eerie shadows across its weathered facade. They had just come from a lively college party and were feeling a bit tipsy, their laughter echoing faintly in the night air.

"Whoa, this place looks creepy," Hardik murmured, his voice slightly slurred as he clung tightly to Rahul's arm.

Rahul chuckled, wrapping an arm around Hardik to steady him. "Come on, it's probably just an old building with a spooky reputation. Nothing to be scared of."

"I don't know, man," Hardik said nervously, peering up at the darkened windows. "I've heard stories about this place. They say it's haunted by the ghost of a former resident."

Rahul raised an eyebrow teasingly. "Seriously? You don't believe in ghosts, do you?"

Hardik hesitated, glancing around nervously. "Well, I mean, maybe not normally, but tonight feels different, you know?"

"Alright, how about this?" Rahul suggested, pulling Hardik closer. "We'll stick together and explore a bit. If anything spooky happens, we'll get out of here, deal?"

Hardik nodded reluctantly, grateful for Rahul's reassuring presence. "Okay, deal. But let's not stay too long, just in case."

They ventured cautiously towards the entrance, the old wooden doors creaking ominously as they pushed them open. Inside, the air was musty and thick with the scent of age-old dust. They tiptoed through the dimly lit corridors, their footsteps echoing faintly.

"You know," Rahul said, trying to lighten the mood, "if there really are ghosts here, they must be pretty chill. I mean, they haven't scared us yet."

Hardik managed a nervous laugh. "Yeah, maybe they're too scared of us."

As they turned a corner, a sudden gust of wind rattled the windows, causing both of them to jump. Hardik instinctively clung even closer to Rahul, his heart pounding in his chest.

"Okay, maybe this wasn't such a great idea," Hardik admitted, his voice trembling slightly.

Rahul squeezed his hand reassuringly. "Hey, it's okay. We can leave anytime you want."

Just as they were about to turn back, they heard a faint whispering sound from down the hall. Both froze, exchanging wide-eyed glances.

"Did you hear that?" Hardik whispered, his voice barely audible.

Rahul nodded slowly, his expression serious now. "Yeah, I did. Let's get out of here."

They hurried back towards the entrance, their footsteps echoing louder now in their haste to escape. As they burst out into the cool night air, Hardik let out a relieved sigh, leaning against Rahul for support.

"Never again," Hardik declared firmly, his fear dissipating now that they were outside.

Rahul laughed softly, pulling him into a comforting hug. "Agreed. No more haunted palaces for us."

As Hardik and Rahul walked back towards campus, their laughter gradually fading into a comfortable silence, neither of them realized the lingering consequences of their adventure at the haunted palace.
