"Hey, Free! I'm glad you asked me to meet up," Valt exclaims, running up to the park bench to greet the blonde boy. "I'm glad you accepted the date," Free answers, seeming to clarify what the whole meet up was for. A date. Valt hadn't really gone on many or those, maybe one or two max.
"Y-Yeah! How could I say no to you, Free de la Hoya?" He stutters, blushing as he sat down on the bench. "How has BC Sol been treating you? Are the bladers good students?" Valt continues, trying to make somewhat of a conversation.
"Yes, it has been...quite, a class to teach. We miss you, you know? When are you gonna come back to Spain with us?" Free asks, fixing his seated position with another one of his flexible ones. His hand grazes Valt's, and the bluenette's fingers retract quickly, nervous of the idea of this being a date.
"I'm gonna stay here about a month more. I missed Toko and Nika, especially mom. And my dad is gonna have next week free, and I want to see him when he arrives," Valt responds, crossing his legs in butterfly position and placing his hands over his knees.
"That sounds nice. I know you love your dad a whole lot. You'd always talk about your family back in BC Sol. Actually, you... Wanna head to a diner just down the street? Sells some good food," Free says with a soft expression, and Valt nods after a brief moment of thinking about it.
"And I have only been gone for a month! Yall ain't gunna die without me," Valt giggles with his joking tone. They stand up, heading toward the diner just down the street.
And Free did not lie, the food was good. They spent over an hour there, talking and eating. They both chatted over their preferred team of beyblade and who they thought would win, and then they conversed over Valt's family. "Thanks for inviting me here. This was a fun...date." The bluenette blushed slightly, scratching the back of his head.
"Of course. I hope this can repeat itself. In the meantime, just reach out with a call, alright? I'll be staying in Japan for a week doing a favor for Kris," And Valt nods, standing up from the round table and making their way to the front counter to pay, until out of nowhere, someone caught Valt's eye.
He turns around to look at the person, a tall male with a dark black and red coat and glistening white hair. Free wraps an arm around Valt, hand squeezing the shorter boy's shoulder, and that was all the albino that was using his phone could see when he looked up and over at the counter.
"Shu...?" Valt mutters under his breath, and indeed, the one and only Shu Kurenai looked over at Valt, his childhood best friend. The albino's eyes glanced over at Free and the arm that he had wrapped around Valt. He looked back down at his phone, and just like that, he walked out of the diner.
"Shit, wait!" Valt shouted, enough for the words to reach Shu, but low enough to not disturb the diner. "Wait..." He sighed, his eyes watering as he saw the albino cross the street and disappear out of sight. And when Free spoke to him, all he could feel was disgust. He didn't want to be with Free, and he had just realized.
"I'm so glad you're safe, back here with us," Valt grinned, ruffling up Shu's white hair, "You made me worry sick about you!" Shu nodded slowly, no specific expression on his face, but he seemed to be spacing off. "Uh, Shu? You good?" He asks, putting his hand on the albino's shoulder until he finally broke out of it.
"Are you going to stay in BC Sol?" It took Valt off guard, of course it did. Was Shu planning on leaving? "Yeah, I have a good future here, and there's a new generation of bladers that have a huge shot at becoming the next world champions. Are you...going back to Japan?" He asked, looking over at Shu.
"The Bulls have a future too. I was planning on directing it since Theodore disappeared," Shu answered dryly, still looking out into the city of Madrid. "Oh," Was all Valt could bring himself to say, looking at the setting sun.
"What of the Purple Blazers?" Shu said suddenly, and Valt knew what he meant. The Purple Blazers was the beyblading team they had dreamt of making when they were just kids. Was this an invite? Was this Shu inviting Valt to share their future together? Did he want that still?
"Purple Blazers? What's that?" Valt lies, making himself seem oblivious to what the albino was saying. And Shu snickered, standing up and turning to face Valt. "Never mind. I got an errand to run, so I'll catch you later," The albino announces, turning around to leave.
"Shu? Wait, you just got back from our final match!" But Shu didn't listen, and instead walked off without saying another word.
Valt didn't see Shu again until he tracked him down and found him in New York in the Raging Bulls. It didn't go...exactly well.
"I just wanted us to be friends again! You didn't have to go off and leave without saying shit to me!" Valt shouted, the whole room full of young bladers going silent.
"I don't have to tell you shit, Valt! Being under Ashtem's care changed my mindset. I came all the way out here for a reason!" The albino shouted back, both maintaining their fair distances. "What happened to us then?! Does our friendship mean nothing to you?!" Valt shouted again, his eyes filling with tears.
"We had a plan for our future! We were going to do so much stuff together! After what happened in Mexico, I can't see you the same...not after what he made me think of you," Shu says with growl, fists clenched together in his pockets. Valt raises a brow. "After who made you think of me in another way? Ashtem? Red Eye?"
And at the sound of the name, Shu retracts, looking away from the bluenette. "Get out," The albino orders, arming up the valor to look at Valt's chocolate orbs.
"What...?" He asks, stepping closer, just to have bodyguards place hands in front of him. "Sir, he said 'Get out.' Follow us to the exit, please," The bodyguard orders, pushing him back slightly.
"Shu, please!" Valt pleads, and Shu turns around to leave. "Bye, Valt."
[Present]
"Valt, what's wrong?" Free calls, bringing Valt back from his thoughts, his memories. He looks up at Free, a little shaken up. "Y-Yeah. Can we just get out of here?" The bluenette asks, eyes still looking over for Shu.
"Yeah, of course, anything for you, Valt."
Free answered with a soft grin, thanking the waiter and leaving with Valt through the diner doors.Shu was in Japan. After all these years, he finally saw Shu. All he had to do now...was find him.
