Chapter 7: A Storm UnleashedYuri and Sia parted ways, and she headed towards her room while he made his way to the gym. The mansion seemed unusually quiet, its grand halls casting long shadows that mirrored the uncertainty in Sia’s heart. She walked with cautious steps, the weight of Sergei’s earlier confrontation heavy on her mind.
Turning a corner, Sia collided with Sergei. His face was contorted with fury, blood staining his hands where he had evidently unleashed his anger on some unfortunate surface. The sight of Sia seemed to ignite a new wave of rage within him.
"What are you doing here?" Sergei's voice was a growl, his words dripping with venom. His eyes bore into Sia’s, sending a shiver of fear down her spine. She tried to speak, to explain, but the words caught in her throat.
Sergei's anger erupted like a volcano, his words harsh and cutting. He hurled insults at Sia, each one aimed to wound deeply. Memories of her stepfather's cruelty flooded her mind, blending with Sergei's harsh words to form a storm of emotion that she struggled to contain.
As fear gripped her, Sia felt a tightening in her chest, struggling to catch her breath. Sergei’s words echoed in her ears like a relentless mantra, drowning out all other sound.
Just as Sia felt overwhelmed, a commanding voice echoed down the corridor.
"Sergei, that's enough."
Dimitri’s voice, deep and authoritative, pierced through the chaos. He appeared suddenly, his presence imposing yet reassuring. Sergei hesitated, his anger momentarily subdued under Dimitri’s steady gaze.
"What is going on here?" Dimitri demanded, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the situation.
"She doesn’t belong here," Sergei spat out, his fists clenched at his sides.
Dimitri stepped forward, his posture conveying both concern and authority. "Go to your room, Sergei. Now."
Sergei hesitated, his jaw clenched in defiance, but ultimately turned and stormed away without another word.
Dimitri turned his attention to Sia, his expression softening as he approached cautiously. He noticed her trembling form, tears streaming down her face. Gently, he reached out a hand, offering comfort.
"It's alright, Sia," Dimitri said soothingly, his voice a beacon of calm amidst the storm. "You're safe now."
Sia looked up at him, her eyes wide with fear and vulnerability. Dimitri knelt beside her, his presence a pillar of strength. He gently guided her to a nearby sitting area, encouraging her to sit down.
"It's okay," Dimitri repeated, his voice gentle yet firm. "You're safe here."
But the trauma of Sergei's outburst clung to Sia like a heavy cloak. She couldn’t shake the fear that had gripped her, the echoes of past abuse reverberating in her mind.
Dimitri stayed by her side, his reassuring presence a lifeline in the darkness. He spoke softly to her, his words a soothing balm. "You're not alone, Sia. We're here for you."
"I am here for you'"As Dimitri comforted her, Sia’s panic began to subside, replaced by a deep sense of gratitude. She looked at him with tear-filled eyes, silently thanking him for stepping in when she needed it most.
Suddenly, a commotion from the end of the corridor caught their attention. Alexei, the eldest brother appeared with purposeful strides. He assessed the scene quickly, his expression hardening at the sight of Sergei’s aggressive stance and Sia’s panicked state.
Without hesitation, Dmitri intervened. He approached Sergei swiftly, his movements decisive. In one swift motion, Dmitri delivered a firm punch that sent Sergei staggering back, stunned into silence. The impact echoed down the corridor, a stark reminder of Dmitri’s authority within the family.
"Sergei, I'll deal with you later" Dmitri’s voice rang out, commanding and unwavering.
Sia watched as Alexei turned his attention to her, his demeanor shifting from assertive to gentle. He knelt beside her, his eyes filled with concern. "Are you alright, Sia?"
She nodded weakly, still trembling from the adrenaline and fear. Dmitri placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, his touch grounding her in the present moment.
"You're safe now," Dmitri assured her again, his voice a steady anchor. "We won't let anyone hurt you."
Sia felt a wave of gratitude wash over her. Dmitri’s protective instinct and calm demeanor were a stark contrast to the turmoil she had experienced moments before. She clung to his words like a lifeline, grateful for the comfort and the sense of safety he offered.
Dmitri stayed with Sia, offering comfort and reassurance until her trembling subsided. He guided her back to her room, ensuring she felt secure every step of the way.
As Sia finally settled into her room, the events of the evening replayed in her mind.
