Using the last of his savings and some attempts to sell pole apples the farmer bought a boat and a map to Stockholm. He wouldve gone elsewhere but he wasn't very educated and he had heard from generations before him that sweden and poland were "united". He wasn't 100% sure on the meaning but he's pretty sure it means same. He was told it'd take 19 hours, which doesnt sound very fun to do by himself so naturally already spent his money and stuck in Danzig he tried to sell a pole apple. He claimed it was like a really strong cigarette, it worked. However instead of money he demanded labor. Many people came up but they all spoke german. Then a poor person who looks like he's lost everything walked up, he could speak polish and he agreed to the terms and now the guy's using a boat. The farmer had no idea if he knew how but he knew he himself couldn't. After a long ride they arrived in..
"This isn't Stockholm" the Farmer said
"I followed the map" the guy said
"Sure.." the farmer replied and got off. "Say, i'll cut you a deal. Take the boat and start a company and come back each month and give me 10% of profits"
"How would I give you my profits"
"By charging for money"
"Makes senses, deal"
He walked away and walked up to someone, he asked them where they were
"City of Apples" the person responded
"Uhm, ok" The farmer replied.
The farmer walked away and with his pole apples he found a knife on the street. He cut up his apples into small slices and sold them, He had about 20 apples and made a TON of money with 5 to spare. He bought an axe and some other tools and then began the walking, miles for miles. Starting to become tired he ate a piece, however it went bad and is now just a normal apple. He was disappointed, now knowing theres likely no way he could make a living with normal apples. Suddenly he met a forest, he rushed in looking for some land to build a shed. Suddenly, he had an idea. He kept walking into the deep deep forest to find an empty spot for the shed. After hunger and long walking he found a spot to sleep, he lied down and fell asleep. He woke up. And for about a month he spent all his time planning for his future. One day he woke up, what's the date? No clue. With his tools next to him he got up and told himself today he's building a livable shed. But first he was freezing cold and needed some money. He walked miles on miles back to Kivik (City of Apples) hoping the guy would be there for some odd reason. After a long hard walk to Kivik (City of Apples) he saw a sign along the coast with "Ferry Services". Seeing as that's the only sign there with ferry on it, he went up and saw the ferry driver. He looked much better now and he was standing there humming a tune.
"I see you've improved" The farmer said to the ferry driver.
"Mhm, you need a ride?" The ferry driver responded
"No, but remember what i said about our deal? I need it changed, give me enough money to live 2 weeks and get me some horses guns and men. No need for your profits, I have a business idea that will last 1000 years" The farmer said
"You mean like enslaved people?" The ferry driver responded, surprised.
"Nonono, like people who wanna start up a company. Workers who get paid" The farmer handed a poster he had designed describing the job. "If you are interested in this job, you must be ready to travel, practice sales skills and be ready for harsh conditions, you must also have good gardening skills. More will be explained later". The text was in Polish and Swedish.
"I'll.. try" The ferry driver responded, unsure of this 1000 year claim. He handed the money to the farmer
"One more thing! I want anyone who says Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz to you to get a free ride, usable infinite times" The farmer said
"I would say no but you've made me a middle class, so sure.." Said the ferry driver, a hint of sadness in his voice.
The farmer rolled his eyes, knowing well that the ferry driver doesnt need him to pay for rides to stay afloat
The ferry driver sailed away to grab the materials.
With the money the farmer has accumulated from that encounter he went to buy a shovel and some apple seeds. He walked 30 miles into the forest again and planted some apple seeds, which should grow some dwarf trees. He dug a cellar to put the apples in when they grow in the next 2 years. He began to clear the area for space so he could have some horses. He made a fence to keep them in. And he started building the foundation of the shed. No where near done, due to the size it would take 2 months to build a shed. He spent a week building and then he walked 30 miles back to Kivik (Finally he knew the name) and saw the ferry driver there and he saw 5 guns 10 horses and 10 men.
"I couldn't find 10 guns." The ferry driver said quickly
"That's fine, This is more then enough" The farmer said
The ferry driver gave the farmer the leash for the horses and the men got off holding the guns and some apple seeds.
"It's a gift" The ferry driver said with a smile
The farmer then went to a bank and took out a hefty loan, after that he went and bought some nice carriages
"Everyone is gonna help pull this and i'll handle the horses and guns" The farmer said in a firm voice
The men and horses and the farmer walked 30 miles to the forest and got to the outpost
The farmer spoke in a loud voice. "Here's the plan, everyone gets numbered. Everyone! Split into 2 groups"
4 people got into group 1 and 6 got into group 2
"Perfect, Group 1 each one of you will walk 20 miles north and then split up and walk 10 miles while marking your paths and set up an outpost, each person will have a gun. I stole some food and put it in the carriage. There are also apple seeds, these must not be eaten, as you will plant these when you set up your outpost. If food does run out eat berries off the forest. All berries here are safe. Group 2! You will be drivers, I know its not the most exciting but you guys are the backbone of the company. 2 drivers and 2 horses per carriage, you will transports goods among other things. Lets get started. Group 1! Hen you make your outpost, build a shed, shop and home will be there. After a few months we will start making our pathways out of wood, for now just dent the dirt and remember the way in case the path is destroyed. Group 2! You will find food in the forest for the horses to eat for now, I have built a fence in this outpost, put the horses in there. Is everything good? Good. Let's get moving!"
One of the tools the farmer bought were nails, he began to chop down trees and hoard wood to start building pathways out of wood. To get everything done including the outposts, it would take 6 months. So for 6 months thats what they did. They worked and built planted apple trees and everything. Then on the last day of the 6th month he woke up to hear hammers. He rushed outside and saw all 4 men finishing their wooden pathway. The pride he felt knowing it was all worth it was pentiful, better yet the apple trees were beginning to grow. He made sure it was all good, The shed, the pathways, sales strategies, the horses are tame, apples trees planted, incremental areas for horses to stay. Now all they needed to do was wait for the apple trees grow. The farmer went and registered the company officially and it was all complete. And the name was Apple Outposts.
