Staring at the grinning Sosuke, Jun blinked with tiredness. Having only just woken up, she could barely make out his face or even hear any of the nonesense that was coming out his mouth. She simply moved her hands to rub her eyes, sound being drowned out in a second.
It was when she was freshly awake when she saw most vulnerable, it was one of the reasons she preferred to sleep peacefully in the confines of her own home without anyone around. It brought her peace to know that if she did wake up then she would be find that no one would be around to bother her awakened self and she didn't have to worry about her senses being too dull.
But when Sosuke was around then she also still didn't have to worry, after all, he had vowed to protect and stay by her side no matter what. In retrospect, he was useful to have around during her newly awakened mornings.
"What is this...?" The girl murmured, finishing with the rub of her eyes and bow looked towards Sosuke, who held a little box within his clutches; it was tied with a pretty black and shiny bow along with a small rose being stuck to it. "I didn't know Valentine's Day was so early..."
Chuckling in response, Sosuke shook the box. "It's an early birthday gift," he told her, making her blink. "I'm busy that day with my family, granted I'd rather spend it with you but I..." he trailed off, only smiling at her now. 'I did promise Yuto-san I'd try hard...especially for you,'
"I'm surprised it isn't another stupid outfit like last year," Spoke Jun, seemingly more content with the small box rather than last year's present, making him laugh in response.
Last year's gift was a cute little dress that Sosuke tried to get her to dress in, saying she had to dress like a 'princess' for her birthday. They say you live and learn, and boy did he live and learn; will never try and get her to dress up in something she doesn't want to ever again.
Taking the box from his grasp, Jun gave it a light shake. When he didn't tell her to be careful, she was quick to conclude that it wasn't anything fragile and from the rumbling inside, it was something smaller than the box itself. There were no extra precautions taken to secure it either. It was small and non-fragile.
"Come on, Sherlock, I don't have all day to wait for your gift analysis," Sosuke teased her, eyes glittering with amusement, wanting to know her reaction as quick as possible. His parents wanted him home as soon as possible, and he had already declined almost every family meeting he could avoid.
It was only when there were big family events like this, Christmas was nearing and he got to spend it with Jun and Yuto last year but it was only a one time thing, was he forced to join his parents in meeting the extended beach of his family. Every other time he was allowed to stay at Jun's place, perhaps overstaying his visit and practically living there at that point.
