~Amelia~
I woke up at 10 a.m. to the pitter pattering of rain against my window, and the weather was still dark, I couldn't believe it was 10 in the morning when I first checked the clock and then looked back at the sky. Another normal thing in London I guess, unfortunately. I went to peak into Leo's room to see if he and Mason were awake, they weren't in the room, probably downstairs, so I went down there to the living room. "Morning." Leo said, he was in the living room, gaming. "Morning," I said back, rubbing my eyes,
"How do you play games in the morning? I still can't remember my name and you can process all the thousands of steps in the game." I said.
"Well." Leo said, too deep into the game to bring on the rest of what he was going to say. "Where's Mason?" I asked.
"He went to buy groceries with mum." He replied. "Oh, OK." I said. I went to the kitchen to prepare myself breakfast, Uncle Jhonny had probably gone to work early so I didn't get to see him. I got two slices if bread from the fridge and put spicy sauce and cheddar cheese between them, then I put the bread in the toater machine. It was on of my favorite breakfasts, usually I went for sliced bananas with honey drizzled on it with nuts beside. I tried to gulp down the toast when it was ready, but there was a knot in my throat that made me sick when I took the bread in my mouth, and my heart hurt so bad. Why wasn't I happy that I had gotten rid of my toxic dad. Why? I should be grateful now that I was in peace. But I was more like in pieces. I did want a family, but not like my parents. I did want to live, but not a life like this. I went back up to my room and went back in bed, there was no other heaven like being in bed, scrolling on pinterest with Spotify on. Or reading a good book or binge reading on Wattpad. I snuggled up inside bed and opened Spotify, but no Pinterets this time, I just wanted to stare at the ceiling, make fake scenarios with the lyrics that brainwashed my brain. After a while, I got bored of listening to music and went back to the kitchen, I wanted a snack too. Then, I saw Mason and Aunt Cecelia at the kitchen, storing stuff inside Sainsbury bags in the fridge and freezer. "Goodmorning honey." Aunt Cecilia said. I said goodmorning back and went to grab a chocolate bar from the fridge, and a Corner chocolate flaked yogurt and went to the table. "I'm going to make cake with strawberry and cream today, one of your favorites, would you like to help Milly?" My Aunt asked. I loved baking, so of course I said yes. She set down all the ingredients on the counter but then her nose scrunched up. "Oh dear." She said.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I literally just went to buy groceries and I forgot to buy the eggs. Could you do me a favour and ask our next door neighbour for two eggs?" She said.
"OK, sure." I said and went to ask thr neighbours for eggs. How would they know me, that I wanted it for my aunt? I planned the conversation I would say in my head before ringing the neighbours bell and then pressed the button. "Coming." A voice called out behind the navy door. The person I least expected opened the door, and I think I was the person he'd last expect to be ringing his door. "Miles?" I said, suprisedly.
"Amelia?" He said back.
"What are you doing here?" We both said in sync. "I live here." He replied. Great. This must be the great boy Leo was talking about. I couldn't believe it was really Miles! He answered, but now it was my turn to answer, no way I was telling him my parents divorced and that I was going to live here from now on with my brother. "I-I came to ask for 2 eggs. Do you have any?" I asked, my blood going hot. "Why? And how are you here? You still didn't answer my question." He said. Adrenaline struck my whole body. "Well, I- erhh... Cecilia next door is my Aunt. I'm Leo's cousin." I replied. "What! You? I can't believe Leo could have a cousin like you." He said. Egoist. "Asshole." I mumbled.
"What was that?" He said in a cold voice. "I said ass-" I was saying when someone came from behind Miles. "Who's at the door Miles?" A tall blond man asked. "It's Cecilias niece. She's from my school." He said, almost speaking in a disgusted voice. "Well hello there! How can we help you?" He asked. "I'm Andrew by the way, Miles's dad." He held is hand out for me to shake it. I hated physical touch, but funny how I craved it at the same time, but obviously not with my enemies dad. Gosh, that sounded weird. I shook his hand quickly and took my hand back, "I'm Amelia." I said. I started blankly at the man, what was I here for again? Oh yeah, the eggs. Shit, that was so embarrassing. "Oh yeah uhm, I came ti burrow 2 eggs if you had any, we need it for a recipe." I asked.
"I'll check the fridge, I'll be right back." He said and left us. "When are you gonna leave?" Miles asked.
"Why, do you want me to leave?" I said jokingly. "Yeah." He said. Ouch. Without even thinking I said, "Well unlucky for you because I live here from now on." I said. "But wait, how-" Miles said just when his dad, Andrew came with 2 eggs in his hand. "There you go." He smiled.
"Thanks." I took the eggs and left.
"Nice to meet you Amelia." He said just as I was halfway through to going to our door. "Nice to meet you too." I said back. I went inside with 2 eggs in my hand, and gave it to my Aunt. "Thanks love. Who answered the door for you, did you get to meet the Croydon family?" She said. "Erh, yeah. Miles answered the door. I actually know him from school." I added. "Oh really? What a coincidence, how are you two, are you good?" She asked. "Not really, he's an asshole." I replied. "Well he's usually really nice to Leo, that's unusual. Well, you know how boys are like, they're all annoying and sort of mean. Even Leo." She whispered at the end. "I can hear you you know." Leo answered back. "Oops." Aunt Cecilia chuckled. We baked the cake and waited for it to cool down, it was too hot to eat right now. I watched T.V in the living room, I still couldn't believe Leo was our next door neighbour...
