Chapter 6: The Midnight Meeting
Maya's heart raced as she approached the old warehouse at midnight. She had decided to go alone, despite her friends' warnings. She had to know what Rachel had been investigating.
As she entered the dimly lit warehouse, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a woman with piercing green eyes, her hair pulled back in a tight ponytail.
"Who are you?" Maya demanded, trying to hide her fear.
"I'm someone who knows what Rachel was looking for," the woman replied, her voice low and mysterious. "And I'm someone who can help you uncover the truth."
Maya hesitated, unsure if she could trust this stranger. But something in her eyes made her believe that she was telling the truth.
"What was Rachel investigating?" Maya asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The woman smiled, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "Rachel was onto something big. Something that could change the course of this town's history."
Maya's mind raced with possibilities. What could Rachel have discovered that was so significant?
Just then, a noise echoed through the warehouse, making Maya's heart skip a beat. The woman's eyes flicked towards the sound, and she grabbed Maya's arm.
"We need to get out of here now !"
