The bright sun paired with the light breeze led to a perfectly warm summer afternoon. The classic red plaid blanket laid across the grassy hill, the shade from the oak above not quite reaching it. The sleepy couple laid against each other, sprawled across the blanket. A blue backpack sat to the side, abandoned. It was stuffed with empty tupperware and chip bags, their contents long since eaten. The lovers exchanged words, each enjoying the presence of the other. They drank in the view from the hill. Despite not being high up, they could see quite a lot. One made a punny remark, earning a soft shoulder punch from the other. They laughed it off and laid there in silence for a while, propped up against each other.
