⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Natalie's POV ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆

One thing was for sure. I was broke... broke. The kind that couldn't afford to drive to the next town over to see if the medication for my sister was cheaper. She was only fifteen years old and the same disease that my parents struggled with all their lives she started experiencing just a few weeks ago.

Heterochima.

That's what they called it. Apparently her red and blood cells were multiplying unevenly and causing chaos in her blood stream. Both my parents had it and they felt sick daily but didn't let it show. I was lucky enough not to be diagnosed at least not yet.

At 30 years old I could barely survive paying for my apartment and car. If I had to splash out on medication that made me feel normal I would be in debt. The reason I decided to move out was because my parents were toxic without knowing it or not doing it on purpose. They would be always arguing about little things and having such a negative aura around the house that when I got of age I moved out. Been working from home doing a sexy call service but my parents think it's customer service job. If they knew all this time I've been making men pay me to talk dirty to them they would have fainted of a heart attack. Their Christian mindset would have been overwhleming.

My parents are relying on me to pay for my sister's medication to help them out after all the boosting of wealth I told them so they don't worry for me. It's coming to bite me back in the ass. Of course I just need to increase my price per hour with the daily dose of men that are my regulars but they might just start paying for half their usual time. They are cheap like me when it comes to services.

"Is there anything I can do to reduce the price?" I questioned.

"You can meet me outside in twenty." The male nurse said and I narrowed me eyes at him hoping my eyes could shoot lasers.

"I didn't mean it like that you pervert!" I said loudly causing a few people to look our way making him blush. He was a short blue eyed man with a dark glint in his eyes that were checking me out.

"Your insurance doesn't cover it. Get a better one then come back." He said.

"But what about in the mean time?" I asked using my puppy dog eyes.

"You don't really look like you need it, you look healthy to me. Heterochima is rare to come by." He said so that's why he looking me up and down. And here I thought it was because he was googling me. It was true people who had this disease would be covered in bruises and have bloodshot eyes if it got really bad. They would feel like they got run over by a truck.

"It's not for me it's for my little sister." I opened my wallet to find only twenty dollars. The medication cost $200 and it would only last for two weeks. Those twenty dollars were going to feed me until I got my paycheck on Friday. It's currently Tuesday...

At least all my bills were paid. I didn't have to worry about that.

"Sorry to hear that little lady but there's no way we can lower the price. You know some rich folks buy this medication to get high?"

"I didn't know that." I said and closed my wallet with a sigh. "I'll figure something out and come back for it."

With that I left the little clinic in my town called Harper located basically in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the forest. Population is 5,000.

I got back to my car and turned it on going to use $5 dollars for some take out for tonight. I could make do with doing breakfast at my apartment. On the way there a bright red LED crescent sign I've never seen before passed my eyes and I questioned what that was for. It didn't have a name just the present moon shape. It was new that was for sure.
