"You're crazy if you think I'll let you stay here!" the girl snapped.
"And you're crazier still if you think I'll stay away from my son!" the brunette replied.
"There's no point in shouting," pleaded Dr. Frank.

A baby's cry was heard from Anne's room, and they all ran a marathon to get there. The first places were taken by Justin and the girl, but the brunette was faster and had little Jason in his arms before his mother. She grunted. Who does he think he is?

"What's the matter, son?" asked Justin affectionately as he rocked the little one in his arms. The baby's cries stopped when he heard his father's voice. A sense of warmth immediately flooded his senses. That little bundle of life was his son.
"Give me my son," Anne demanded, trying to contain her anger.
"He's peaceful with me," replied the boy putting little Jason to sleep.
"Give me my son, Bieber!"
"Calm down, Anne," demanded Dr. Frank. He could see the girl's nerves upsetting.
"I want my son!"
"Calm down...," Ryan tried to touch her shoulder to comfort her, but she pulled sharply out of his grip.
"I won't be still until he gives me my son back and gets out of our lives!"

The baby's cry broke the hostile atmosphere in the room. Justin tightened his grip on the little one in fear. It hurt him to see Anne getting so upset because of him, but he also didn't want to walk away from both the loves of his life, not again. He would never live peacefully if he did.

"Let's go to the living room so you can calm down," the doctor said, trying to get the girl out of the room. No one gained anything by staying there, especially, Jason.

The girl started to cry, but didn't resist the doctor's command.

As soon as Ryan and Justin were alone in the room, the brunette began crying. He quickly wiped the tears on his shoulder so they wouldn't fall on the baby.

"Easy, Justin," Ryan said trying to hug his friend without hurting the little boy.
The brunette sighed. "Why didn't you tell me, Ryan?"
"Because she asked me to."
"You could have given me some clue."
"Brother, she went through a lot during this time. The least she needed was for me to open my mouth and get you to come back early."
"I don't want to be separated from them..."
"I know, brother, but I don't know if your plan to stay against their will is a good idea."
"And what else can I do? I know this is stupid, but I am afraid of losing sight of them and having them disappear from my life."
"I think the only one thing you can do now is to be patient. It's been only a few hours, you can't ask her to digest the whole situation straight away."
"Do my parents know about Jason?" he asked tucking the baby into his cot. He had fallen asleep again. He's so beautiful, he thought.
"Yes. They found out after you left for London."
"What?"
"Your mother told mine. She said she needed to get you away from this town as soon as possible, and that the timing was right."
"What happened with the fraud? Was there any significant progress in the investigation? Did they arrest my father after I left?"
"A lot happened since you left...," the blond scratched his head. This was getting harder and harder to explain.

"Are you feeling better?" the doctor asked watching Anne sip the water from the glass he'd given her a few moments ago.
"Yes. Thank you," she replied after finishing her drink and placing the empty glass on the coffee table.
"Remember, you can't get upset like this. Stress is not good for you."
"I know. I just... I don't know what happened to me."
"Jason still needs you in his life, he's not even a year old. You need to be strong for him."
"I'm aware of that. It's just that Justin's sudden presence took me by surprise, let alone that he found out about Jason."
"You knew it would happen at some point. Sooner or later, the truth comes out, especially those related to family."
"But I didn't expect it to happen so fast. His parents said he wouldn't be back from London for another four years."
"His parents decided things for him that were not theirs to decide. It was natural for him not to follow their directions. It's hard to stay away when your heart is somewhere else." The girl blushed. "I must confess that it is reassuring to know that he will be staying here."
"He will not stay," the girl interrupted immediately.
"You know he will, and there's not much you can do about it. There's nothing to lose in this situation."
"Of course there is."
"There isn't."
"He can't just barge into my son's and my life as he pleases."
"He's his son, too. And it's time he gets a chance to be his father properly."
"I understand that, but that doesn't give him the right to stay here without my consent. Jason and I have a routine, and his presence would only disrupt it."

"The boy needs to get used to his father. Haven't you thought about what would happen if something bad happened to you? Jason would probably go to Justin's parents. A judge would give him to them easier than they'd give him to Ryan."
"That would never happen. I'll be with my son no matter what."
The man sighed. "Anne... Do you remember the blood tests I asked to run at your last doctor's appointment?"
"Yes. What about them?"

Dr. Frank was silent for a few seconds as he looked down at his joined hands in his lap. The girl felt an unpleasant sensation, as if some bad news was coming.

"I have the results. Apparently, there is something abnormal. We still need to do more routine tests before we can make a definitive diagnosis, but..."
"Abnormal? What do you mean? What's wrong with me?" her heart was pounding so hard she could hear it in her ears like a relentless melody of terror.
"The tests show the presence of a tumour."
