When Tom got home, he just wasn't having it. Everything was not working: the lights were off, the water system was faulty, and it was a rainy night. He felt frustrated. Then he tried to reanalyze those few minutes he had with Mag. He wanted it, but he didn't know if she did. She had a daughter to take care of and a rough past she had left behind. He picked up his phone to call her, and it rang.
Meanwhile, Frances had returned home and told her husband what had happened.
"Harry, Margaret Harrison has another child apart from Sarah," Frances said.
"Is that what you heard?" Harry, an investigative journalist, asked.
"Yes, and she kissed Tom Eddington," Frances added. "I rudely interrupted their moment."
Harry looked confused. "So, what do you want me to do now? Should I publish a story based on half-baked information? You don't know if the boy was lying or if you saw wrongly. There's no evidence. I can't publish this."
Frances was determined to expose Mag. "She is living as a shadow of herself. She paints a façade that she despises love. That lady needs love."
"And you think the best way to show her love is by publicizing news about her long-lost son and the affair she has with Tom?" Harry asked.
"Yes," Frances replied bluntly.
"What do you really want from her? I know my wife well. You have an ulterior motive. What is it?"
"Just do what I said. I'll get more evidence," Frances insisted.
"Okay, if you say so," Harry relented.
The next day, Sarah returned home from school, but Mag wasn't there; she was in her mentorship program.
"I think he likes me," Sarah thought, reflecting on what had happened that morning at school.
