A serenade of the years to come,
A place where I have come from,
The trees that sway and dance in the sun,
A calling so deep under the rays,
A reminder of the times I recalled those days.

The footsteps of a barefoot follower padding across the grass,
At the time I didn't know It wouldn't last,
Staring up at the starry sky,
The dreams that I dreamt were lost,
A pain so searing it came at such a bewildering cost.

Being so young with the cold earth beneath my toes,
The feeling of it made me think up many lies,
The happiness I felt was undeniable,
My spirit was the only thing that could possibly be liable.

Pounding in the distance made me stop and listen,
Ears twitching to the hoofbeats of a mysterious song,
A melody where their coats glistened,
Galloping treacherously hard and long.

Flapping in the wind like summer grass under the willow,
Their manes slapping against their necks like waves in the ocean,
All in sync with each other in a tidal like motion.

A pony the color of amber liquid trotted in the breeze,
Made me stop, turn, and freeze,
Three separate from the rest,
All deciding to put me to the test.

Older as the years go by,
Things come, go, and ultimately die,
Now a teenager in despair,
No-one on earth seems to care.

Head held high daring anyone to come near,
If only they knew that inside dwelled such fear,
Looking back into the past,
I've changed more than I can see.

What happened to the little girl that I used to know?
The world has made me into what I am now,
These life trials will only make me continue to grow.
