I look in the mirror. The face looking back at me is not mine. It's not joeys either. It's my father's. I don't think about him often. Fuck. He doesn't even deserve the time of day. I leave my bathroom and head over to my bed where my phone is. I pick it up to see a message from Carter in the group chat .

                    BAD BITCHES
Carter: JANUARY BABY! FIRST DAY BACKKKK!

Finn: it's six in the fucking morning. Pipe down ya manky fuck.

Carter: T! FINNS INSULTING ME AGAIN.

I snicker before typing out a reply.

Tadhg: shut it.

Carter: I'm your lift to school.

Tadhg: yeah bitch. Come get me.

Carter: asshole.

Finn: you're both insane.

Carter: 🖕

Tadgh: 🖕

I make my way to the kitchen, where I see Ollie and Sean eating breakfast that edel had cooked. I see John pacing around the kitchen on a call that looks very important. "Oh Tadhg love. You're awake," she gestures for me to sit as she places some food down. "Come eat." I do as she says because, hey. She makes good food.

"Thanks edel," I say stuffing my face. Edel turns to Sean grabbing him some more juice, and Ollie looks to me with a confused expression.

"Take a picture. It'll last longer." I sip my water. "No need to be a jerk," Ollie says as he continues to eat his food. I roll my eyes. "Jesus, you're so sensitive," I hop of the stool and grab my bag. "My lifts here."

"Tadhg love would you mind taking Ollie with you today? I only have enough time to get Sean to school today," edel says with a hopeful look. I reluctantly nod and grab my little shit of a brother. We get to the car.

"Heyy little lynchy!" Carter calls out to Ollie as we approach the car. Ollie smiles and we hop in.

Finn grins as he sees the annoyed look on my face. I sit in the passenger seat as usual and Ollie sits next to Finn in the back. "Little lynch," Finn acknowledges. "How's it goin?" Ollie gives him a small smile. "I'm pretty good, you?" Finn chuckles at Ollie's politeness and slaps a hand onto his shoulder. "Good, kid. Good."

Carter suddenly frowns and looks at me. I wait several beats before finally speaking. "The fuck is it this time? You look like someone killed your puppy." Carter looks at me as his frown deepens. "I didn't get a good morning from Edel," Carter says, voice thick with sadness. The fuck?

"No- no," I cut in. "This obsession with Edel has to stop." Carter looks at me before looking to Finn and Ollie in the back, then back at me. "Fine," Carter huffs out a breath of air before finally driving us to school.

We arrive at Tommen. Ollie runs off to his little group of third years. "I'm gonna go say hey to Maddie," Carter says as he runs off like a love sick puppy. I look to Finn and he just shrugs. "I'll be with Abigail." As if on cue, Abigail shows up with a smile and Finn wraps an arm around her waist.

To avoid profusely vomiting everywhere, I walk away.

Finn, Carter, and I head to hurling practice a few moments later.

"Lynch! Are you even paying attention right now?!" Coach should for what feels like the thousandth time. I groan and roll my eyes before ignoring him, and running to the locker rooms. Carter follows after me.

"T? You good? You're being extra grumpy," Carter sits down next to me, handing me a water bottle. I take it and drink before answering. "Fine." I run a hand through my air before letting out a frustrated breath.

"You sure? You seem like there's something on your mind," Carter asks in a careful tone. I scoff. I'm sick of everyone giving me that careful tone. Everyone knows about me. Or should I say my father. Everyone's acting like I'm a time bomb waiting to go off. No shit something's on my mind.

I haven't slept in weeks, I haven't been myself, and on top of it all I'm being reminded of the shit show of a family I come from. Don't get me wrong I love my family. Joey, Aofie, Aj, Shannon, Johnny, Ollie, Sean, hell even Darren and Alex, fuck maybe even the fatass Gibsie. It's just my parents.

A lot of stuff from my past haunts me that no one seems to realize. Like the night I contemplated slitting my father's throat. In all honesty? I was so ready to do it. The only thing keeping me from doing it was Shannon and Joey. If they weren't there, I would've killed him. I would've killed my father. When I made him bleed? It felt fucking amazing. Having that kind of control over him, made me feel like I had all the power in the world. What does that say about me?

It makes me just as bad as them. I love that all my siblings got their happy endings, truly. But at the end of the day, happy endings don't exist. You might be happy for a while, but then you die. It's the way of life.

I nod. "Im grand," I let out an exhausted breath. "Just tired lad." Carter gives me a sympathetic look before nodding. "If you ever wanna...talk. I'm here lad," Carter places a supportive hand on my shoulder and I nod. "Yeah, thanks." I get up and head back out into the field.

Everything happened so fast. One moment I was in the locker room talking to Carter. The next I was being sent to the office for not so accident breaking Ryan Kennedy's nose. Then, I'm slamming into a girl I've never seen in my entire life, but I'm fairly certain she's about to ruin it.
