HER SKIN WAS burning with the flames that engulfed her and yet she was unable to make any movement.
All she could see around her was fire; a burning city, a burning cradle.
The sound of metal clashing with metal mingled with the various screams in the distance and the shrieks of dragons in the sky.

But above all those sounds, the cry of a baby diverted all her attention. With her skin falling to pieces from the fire that continued to engulf her, Rhavena managed to move towards the burning cradle. In it, the cries belonged to the baby who, like her, was slowly being consumed by the fire until only burnt flesh and bones remained, the conqueror's crown standing ridiculously large on his tiny head, intact despite the fire.

Rhavena awoke drenched in sweat, her throat scratchy from all the screams that brought her back.

It took her several seconds to regain consciousness before she realised that she was no longer imprisoned in her dreams. She placed a hand to her chest to feel her fast heart beating rapidly, then moved her hands to her head, covering her eyes to try to deflect the horrible images that were so vividly displayed in her dream.

Suddenly, exalting her even more than she already was, the door to her room opened without warning; Tarik entered in great agitation.

"Princess?"Rhavena noticed how the man's hand was on his sword, realizing how loud she had been shouting for her knight to be so concerned.
"I'm fine, Ser Tarik, it was just a bad dream."

The man visibly relaxed, loosening his posture and nodding slightly.

"What, for all Seven Hells, was that?" A seemingly very sleepy Cregan entered her room rubbing his eyes.

Rhavena diverted her attention to the wolf that had just invaded her space, managing to take her mind off the images that kept flooding her.

"What are you doing here?"
"Uh, your scandal must have made it all the way to Bear Island," Cregan answered incredulously.
"I'm sorry, it was a nightmare," Rhavena sighed, covering her face with her hands.

She only heard Cregan sigh as well, and he said something to Tarik that she didn't quite hear, before the door closed and Rhavena thought she was alone again. Only for her to raise her head and see Cregan Stark still standing a few feet from her bed, and frown.

"Your family traumas are beginning to be a nuisance to me," the boy sighed, rubbing his eyes again with obvious sleepiness.
"I beg your pardon?" Rhavena raised an eyebrow and shook her head in disbelief, crossing her arms and looking more directly at the wolf.
"First, I risk my life to save you," at that exaggeration, Rhavena grumbled, rolling her eyes, but Cregan paid no attention to the faces the princess was making at him. "And now, your nightmares wake me up in the middle of the night, while I was having such a nice sleep."
"Oh, forgive me, Lord Cregan, I did not mean to disturb you with my life in danger, and my inconvenient nightmare."
"What was it, anyway, in your dream a little baby with a penis was born?"
