A Beautiful Night's View (part 1)

Chapter 3

"Guys come here look what I found!" An elegant, silver bracelet intertwines between Onew's fingers. "I think someone lost it, probably belongs to a girl if you ask me." Vicky speaks while walking towards the crowd hovering Onew. Key flutters his eye lashes at Onew, he playfully hits him in an attempt to be cute. "Hyung do you think I could have it? It would match well with my recent style." Onew lovingly looks at Key and hands over the bracelet. A few steps away Tiana and Mara are following them again, using the classic idea of hiding behind trees. Tiana spots the bracelet through her binoculars and she quickly takes a look at her empty wrist. An annoyed look fills her face as she thinks to herself. "Why do I have to be so silly minded! Leaving an obvious trace that someone is here in the woods! I need to raise the level of my game play." Mara glances at Tiana while adjusting her glasses. She shows her a dimmed light, phone screen reading: "I know what you are thinking. There is no need to self motivate. I assume the people we are after are too small minded to have any awareness that there is someone following them. Nervousness is failure." With a serious attitude Mara puts her phone away as Tiana gestures her with a thumbs up indicating that she has read the text.

Jonghyun walks ahead of the others and sits under a large oak tree startling Tiana and Mara who are standing the opposite direction behind the oak tree. Jonghyun then takes out his flash light lighting a way for the others. Vicky, Onew and Key follow along and sit beside Jonghyun who starts a conversation. Mara presses a record button on her phone. "Minho and Dru must be having a blast in the party. And as for Taemin and Faye I wonder what they are up to since they decided to stay indoors?" A smirk arises from Key's face as he whispers in Onew's ears. "Taemin is not as sweet and innocent as he looks, all alone with a girl. As expected my baby bro is all grown up now." They both quietly laugh at the lame thoughts they were having. Vicky stands up and looks at the others. " We should get going now it is kind of late and dark. I don't want to loose my way back to the hideout." Tiana sighs in relief that they are going to walk away from the oak tree. Her excitement of not getting caught proves to be fatal as she mistaking steps on a tree branch. Her boot 's heels breaking the tree branch in half let out a loud noise. Jonghyun seems startled. "Did you hear that? Who made that noise?" Jonghyun turns his flash-light behind the oak tree, no one is there. He looks around and catches two figures running. Jonghyun fastens his pace and runs after them causing Vicky, Onew and Key to follow along.

Tiana trips over a miniature rock, clumsily falling to the ground. Mara looks behind and runs over to help her up. Jonghyun lends a helping hand to Tiana which she hesitantly takes. Mara reaches there just as the rest of the people following Jonghyun reach there. As Tiana is up on her feet she gives a sorry and ashamed look to Mara. Mara does not take it well, she was never good with admitting defeat. "So who are you two? Why did you run away from us?" Vicky's curiosity creeps into the unusual situation. As Tiana is about to speak her mouth is left wide open as Mara interrupts. "We are ecologists studying the effects of transpiration and tree diameter during the day compared to the night. We saw a rodent and that is why we ran in fear. Why did you chase after us?" Key, Onew and Vicky turn their heads towards Jonghyun looking for an answer. Jonghyun looks at Tiana and Mara. "Could we have a moment please?" Jonghyun, Vicky, Onew and Key hurdle together, while Jonhgyun whispers "I thought some fans might have found us and since they think we are kidnapped they would have reported back to SM about our location and we would therefore have to go back to SM earlier than we planned on going. I was intending to stop them from doing so." Key looks baffled. "Then what do we say to these two?" Leader Onew walks out of the hurdle and after a few seconds of thought he turns to look back at Tiana and Mara giving them an awaited answer. "We are just camping out here with our friends and we..we were all playing a game of tig and Jonghyun supposed you were one of us and chased after you. We are really sorry to have frightened you in such a way. We will get going now, nice meeting you!"

As they are about to walk away Mara stops them. "I hope you do not mind me asking but do you perhaps have a spare room for me and my friend here? Our experiment is not complete and I was hoping to stay overnight some-place but was unable to find a place to stay. We will not disturb you and abide by your living rules. Please I insist!" A look of desperation is noticeable on Mara's face. Jonghyun kind heartedly accepts. Key rolls his eyes in disbelief and mutters under his breath. "Way to go Jong, bring more trouble for us why don't you?" Vicky leans in near Key. "What was that you said?" Key shakes his head. "Never mind it's not important."
