"Welcome, my children. In this room, you shall explore the noble art of Divination." Professor Trelawney explains as she stands up.
"In this room, you shall discover if you possess the sight-" As she comes forward she knocks into her table situated right in front of her.
I purse my lips, trying not to smile while Blaise snorts next to me. I jab his side, telling him to shut up. The rest of the class giggles as professor Trelawney continues.
All of my classes were with atleast one of my friends so I never happened to be alone.
"Hello. I am professor Trelawney" She says, making her way to the front of the class, past her table.
"Together, we shall cast ourselves into the future!" She holds up both her hands, shaking them and smiles widely.
No one returns it.
She continues.
"This term, which we'll be focusing on Tasseomancy, which is the art of reading tea leaves. So please, take the cup of the person sitting opposite to you."
Along with the rest of the class, me and Blaise exchange our tea cups, which we have already drank from. I look inside his cup, not being to match his tea leaves with any of the patterns in our textbook.
"What do you see? The truth lies buried like a sentence deep within a book, waiting to be read."
What?
"But first, you must broaden your minds." She walks up to a Gryffindor student, Seamus. She places both her hands on his head and shakes him.
"First, you must look... Beyond!" She abruptly turns around and gestures to the sky.
"Is she ok?" Blaise whispers to me.
"I don't think so." I laugh.
I flip the textbook trying to find what Blaise's cup reads.
"You, boy..." We turn our heads towards the Gryffindor student she's speaking to, Neville Longbottom.
"Is your grandmother quite well?"
"Uh, I think so." He replies.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that."
I tune her out, figuring she isn't going to say anything important.
"What do you see in my cup?" Blaise asks me.
"Nothing, it's just tea leaves."
Blaise snatches his cup from my hands, flipping through the textbook trying to find his 'truth'.
"This is stupid. What are we going to achieve looking at tea leaves?" He says, unable to find anything.
I don't get a chance to reply as professor Trelawney suddenly screams, backing away from the table Harry is seated at.
"Oh, my dear boy. My dear..." She struggles to get her words out.
"You have... the grim." Some of the people in the class gasp.
"What's the grim?" I whisper to Blaise.
He shrugs his shoulders.
Seamus words my thoughts as he asks professor Trelawney the same thing.
"Taking form of a giant spectral dog," A boy starts reading the from textbook.
"It's among the darkest omens in our world. It's an omen of death..."
