This is a short chapter but there is more to come since the next chapter is almost finish. Happy reading.
After leaving the bus depot Rogue walked down several streets until reaching a convenient store. There she found some maps of the area on a little rack and picked up one that covered the surrounding areas. She also bought some snacks and ingredients for sandwiches, some soup and a few drinks. She planned to hike up to the cabin since it was within walking distance, or what she considered a short trek. A good hike was what she needed to get her mind off things. Remy was waiting around the corner waiting to see where she would go next, still waiting for the right moment to approach her.
He waited until she was a good distance away from him before continuing his pursuit. There was a stretch of woods ahead, and as he predicted she walked straight into it. There was one good thing about that. Her footprints would be easy to spot and was careful not to get too close. He didn't want her to spot him before he was ready. Plus, he promised himself to scold her when the time came about running off alone in the woods. There were always news reports of teenage girls disappearing. One of the reasons he decided to follow her.
Rogue hiked among the trees, and Gambit could see that she had a smile on her face looking like she was having a good time walking along. He loved seeing her smile, although he would have preferred a not so strenuous trek. He utilized all his stealth skills to stay hidden, but Rogue seemed as if she felt another presence.
She stopped and turned herself around taking in her surroundings. "Is someone there?" Gambit was hidden between two trees that seemed to have fused together. After a few moments she didn't hear anything but the faint sounds of nature and let out a breath. "This ain't some damned horror movie." Gambit wanted to laugh but kept completely silent. She walked on much to his relief.
After about an hour or so, Rogue reached a clearing and looked around to see a small lake with a dock and path. She checked her map and after about a minute she refolded it and walked on. There was no place for Gambit to stay out of sight, so he stayed at the edge of the woods and watched her walk towards a small cabin. Even from this distance she could see her walking towards it and also saw a woman looking to be around thirty standing on the small porch of the cabin.
Rogue was greeted by the woman and even though he couldn't hear what they were saying from this distance he was intrigued. He could see the woman handing her a set of keys and she soon walked inside, still perplexed as to why she was here. He watched Rogue walk inside of the cabin and the woman walked to her car and drive away. There was something about that woman he found familiar, but right now his only focus was Rogue.
I got chapter 90% completed so it may be up by tomorrow. Please remember to vote and comment.
