"No one would have ever suspected that hidden among the remote Appalachian ranges lay such an incredible secret. The contents of this book are more than just a simple story; they are a testimony of true events, shrouded in hidden dimensions, ancient battles, and mysteries buried in time.
'Pepper, what are you doing up there?' Liam asked, peeking through the slightly open door of the room. 'And why now?'
I looked up from my notebook, eyes sparkling with excitement, replying without pausing my writing: 'Oh, hi Liam. Has Eli arrived? I'm just jotting down our incredible adventure. Who knows, one day we might tell it to our children. And if by some mystery this book gets published, it might even secure me a financial future. Being an astronomer is fascinating, but not always profitable.'
Liam sighed, running a hand through his hair. 'Pepper, I don't think this plan will ever work. Besides, it's almost dinnertime. Eli is downstairs waiting for us, along with the rest of the family.'
'Come on, just give me one more minute,' I replied with a conspiratorial smile. 'I just want to make a few more notes.'
Grandma's authoritative voice rang from downstairs: 'Pepper, Liam, come down immediately! The ceremony is about to begin!'
Liam gave me a guilty look. 'Grandma is coming up here because Pepper had the brilliant idea of writing down our "extraordinary adventure."'
'Hey!' I protested, raising my hands. 'It's a brilliant idea and-'
'If you don't come down immediately, I'll come up and write the story my way!' Grandma threatened. 'Come down, especially you, Liam. Isadora is waiting for you!'
'I'm sorry, Grandma,' Liam said, giving me a desperate look. 'But I'll be the main narrator. After all, it was my idea and-'
'No one will be writing anything now,' Eli interrupted, entering with a contagious smile. 'Let's all go downstairs, and then... I think I'll have to be the main narrator. Without me, this story would never have started.'
'Well, actually, it should be me,' I said, closing the notebook carefully. 'Without my intervention, none of this would have ever happened.'
'Eli! How wonderful to see you! It's been so long!' Liam exclaimed, hugging her enthusiastically.
'Eli, when did you come into the room? Shouldn't you be downstairs?' I asked, surprised.
'Yes, I should be,' Eli replied with a smile. 'But suddenly I couldn't find you, so I came up to see what you were up to. Now, though, I need a pen...'
'Hi guys,' Isadora interrupted, peeking through the door. 'Can I join you? I don't want to be alone with Grandma. And if you don't hurry, she'll come up here to scold us all.'
'Isadora, I'm so sorry,' I said quickly, searching frantically for a pen. 'I'll come down right away, but if you want, you can come in. But wait, no, I don't want to spoil the surprise and-'
'Come on! The ceremony hasn't even started yet,' Isadora interrupted, laughing. 'I heard the commotion up here, so I came to see what you were up to. But if you don't hurry, Grandma will come up, and you know how she is...'
'Enough! Get down here now!' Grandma shouted firmly. 'And why should I be the one, missy?'
'Wait, Grandma,' I pleaded, waving the pen. 'Let me at least write the prologue and-'
'No! You're not writing anything,' Grandma replied firmly. 'Everyone knows grandmothers are the best storytellers.'
'But Grandma!'
'NO! No buts. Give me a pen, quick! Mmm, where should I start... Yes, I've got it! A long time ago, when the Appalachian ranges were formed, some extradimensional life forms decided to visit Earth and settle right there, connecting our planet with other worlds. They came from a planet called Omnis.
These beings initially chose to interact with humans through one of their own who had the power to transform into anything. This being, the first to visit Earth, saw potential in Homo sapiens and decided to bestow upon them advanced technology. Over time, the role of guardians of this knowledge passed from father to son. These guardians called themselves the 'Filek'. Their task was to guard the Earth portal and loyally serve these extraterrestrial life forms.
Through the centuries, the task of guarding the portal was handed down to Pepper's father. When it was his turn, he received a visit from an emissary of Omnis: a man who seemed to be a warrior. This warrior brought an urgent message: a war had begun on Omnis, and they needed the Filek's help to protect both worlds.
Pepper's father and the warrior fought together and managed to win the war. The warrior, who turned out to be a prince of Omnis, remained in good contact with Pepper's father, establishing a lasting bond between the two worlds.'"
