13TH JANUARY 1996

IT WAS THEIR FIRST NIGHT back in the Hogwarts after the holidays and Harry couldn't for the life of him fall sleep.

Maybe this was because of his recent developed fear of Voldemort entering his mind while he sleeps or the vivid nightmares from that night, for all he knew it could be because of the "visions" or whatever Athena called them scared him more than he'd like to admit out loud, but he tossed around the sheets like a restless dog.

The left side of his bed seemed oddly empty, but perhaps he just got too used to Athena's presence during the night. ( somewhere in the back of his mind he was aware of how unhealthy that sounded )

He couldn't sleep without her. But Harry also didn't want to stand up and walk down to the Dungeons like a pathetic loser—her words. He was fifteen years old, he can sleep on his own.

After all, he had done so for fourteen years of it as far as he knew. He should be more than capable of falling asleep without a girl by his side to chase away his fears of getting possessed or used, or killed. He could do that on his own.

Harry turned around and switched sides for the sixth time since he went to bed, Ron's snores combined with Seamus' echoing loudly in his head. He felt as though his body was set on fire, sweat building on his forehead.

He kicked off his blanket aggressively, feeling immensely and irrationally annoyed and frustrated at both himself and the night.

Glaring up to the ceiling, he huffed and laid his arm across his forehead, closing his eyes and hoping to sleep for the hundredth try.

Athena had woken up to Salem's scratching on her face, prodding her to open her eyes. She was the first one to be awake, the other girls blissfully unaware and still drooling with their silky sleeping masks on. She left the dorm after putting on her robes and grabbing the book The Shining to read.

She had reluctantly ( Athena usually liked spending her mornings alone ) agreed yesterday evening to meet with Harry for breakfast, needing to speak with him anyway. Salem followed her all the way to the portrait and outside to the corridor, looking for the patting Harry usually gave her whenever he saw her.

The common room was fairly empty with the exceptions of the few morning risers who liked to wake up at five am. Athena switftly walked around Vaisey, who's Adrian Pucey's reserved Chaser as far as she knew and a relatively quiet but arrogant guy, having him staring after her like a long lost puppy.
