emma smiled setting her cell phone down on her desk. matt just asked her out on a date. matt asked her out on a date! emma couldn't help it she screamed in her pillow with a huge smile on her face. god, she was such a girl.
"emma? are you okay?" maranda asked walking into her daughters room
"yeah perfectly fine mom" emma reassured her
"so what's up, why'd you scream?" she asked confused
"matt asked me if I wanted to go on a date. and I said yes" emma smiled
"oh! that's wonderful honey, I know you've liked this boy for a while" maranda told her giving her a hug
"yeah, but unfortunately we have to keep it on the down low because of my friends. which makes me question if this really means anything or not" emma explained sighing, sitting on her bed.
"I understand what you mean, look, it's going to get better I promise, I really think dropping those so-called friends of yours would definitely help" maranda reassured
"why does everyone keep saying that! its seriously not that easy. like say, okay I want to drop them. camilia would get pissed off at me and start something that I didn't mean to happen and it would completely ruin everything. it's like trying to leave an abusive relationship" emma explained upset about the whole situation
maranda didn't say anything after that and instead just gave her daughter a hug. she really wished that emma could just have the boy that she wanted and not have the fear of people getting in the way.

the week ended up going faster then emma expected and by the time she knew it she was getting ready for her so called "date". emma would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous because she sure as hell was. it wasn't even about the fear of getting caught, it was the fact that she really likes matt and is not sure if this whole thing means anything to him.
