(POV:Merid)
After Y/n's outburst I didn't know what to say. I looked back at my dad and saw he was stumped too.
-"I-I didn't tell you my parents story so you guys would end up with the same fate as my father's kingdom I told it so you learn from their mistakes, your kingdom is still young and has a lot of potential don't let it go into ruin, you all have a great bond but it can easily be broken, don't let it" she continued.
-"She's right, our kingdom is young and can still grow and I have been selfish, I tore a great rift in our kingdom" I admitted.
-"I-I need to mend my mistake and mend our bond, so there the matter of my bethotrol, the Queen and I have decided to do what's right, and...and...that's...that's...break...tradition" I continued and starred over at my mom as she gave me signals to what to say.
---POV Change---
(POV:Reader)
I was happy at least one person got something out of my parents' story. Until he didn't, Merid started to talk about his marriage which I didn't want to happen because I liked him and didn't want him to marry someone he didn't but I knew it would happen or thought it would happen.
I was a bit worried for his words and what he'd say until I saw him looking behind the lords. I glanced over and saw Elinor was giving him charades to say what to say.
-"She feels in her heart that we should feel free to write our own stories, follow our hearts and find love at our own time" Merid ended and looked at me I smiled back.
-"That was beautiful" Lord Dingwall sniffed out.
-"The Queen and I put the decision to you, my lords, might young people decide for themselves who they will love?" Merid asked ad grabbed my hand holding it tightly.
-"Huh?" Lord Dingwall asked, confused.
-"Well, since you've obviously made up your mind about this, I have one thing to say, This is-" Lord Macintosh began but was interrupted.
-"A grand idea! Give us our own say in choosing our fate!" his daughter exclaimed happily.
-"What!?" Lord Macintosh questioned surprised.
-"Aye, why shouldn't we choose?" Lord Dingwall's daughter asked.
-"But he's the prince!" Lord Dingwall exclaimed.
-"I didn't even pick him out, it was your idea" she scoffed and crossed her arms.
-"And you...You feel the same way?" Lord MacGuffin asked his daughter, she answered something only she could understand but everyone took it as a yes.
-"Well, that settles it, let these lassies try and win his heart before they win his hand, if they can" Lord MacGuffin declared and hugged his daughter.
Everyone continued to cheer and laugh and agree but one guard got suspicious of Elinor the 'stuffed bear' and began to poke her. I lightly bumped my shoulder into Merid and looked in Elinor's direction, he caught what I meant and thought of a distraction.
-"Uhh...Everyone to the cellar, let's crack open the King's private reserve to celebrate!" he exclaimed, and everyone cheered and began to walk toward the kitchen.
-"Whoa Whoa Whoa! Pst bring the small glasses" Fergus mumbled to a maid as they walked, clearing the throne room completely.
