They had paddled in after a bit longer, stomachs growling.
Blake held the door for Luke as he stepped inside the Shack, his board under his arm. Blake shuffled in next with her board. Cali looked up from the register and grinned at both of them.
"Good lessons?" She asked as they both put their boards on the back wall.
"He's not a total kook, but still got some good waves in." Blake replied, she began to step behind the counter to help, but Cali stopped her.
"I got it, I'll bring breakfast out." She winked at her again, making sure Luke wasn't looking. Blake stuck out her tongue at her. "I'll bring you guys bowls Luke, go enjoy the weather." Cali smiled at him, who was trying to look anywhere at the two girl's interaction. He nodded to her as he followed Blake back outside to the patio. They opened one of the umbrellas up and took a seat.
"Not bad Utah." Blake said, pulling her one leg up onto the chair, her knee to her chest.
"It has definitely been a while." He said leaning his arms on the table. They hadn't really bothered to change yet, still in their swimsuits.
"So why are you in Hawaii?" She asked.
"Work" he replied. She scoffed.
"I know work but what do you do?" She wanted to see what he would tell her.
"I'm a lawyer. I got the opportunity to move out here for a while to work some cases." He lied. Well, it was half truth half lie. She nodded slowly.
"So was the law school before, or after the extreme sports?"
He flashed his side smile, that sent a shiver down her spine. Heat filled her cheeks.
Cali popped up next to the table a moment later with two smoothie bowls, decorated beautifully with fruit, granola and honey along the top. Blake's favorite was banana and chocolate, and she made Luke the same one.
"Enjoy." Cali put a hand on Blake's shoulder before walking back inside. She knew what she meant by it. She didn't want Blake to blow this. She'd chew her butt later for the gesture. They dug in for their second breakfast for a moment.
"Hey, you told me your name. It sounded familiar so yeah, I did some digging." She sucked on her spoon. He nodded.
"What did you find?" He took another bite, waiting for an answer.
"Luke Utah: Red Bull's epic fail at surfing" She tried to contain her laugh. Luke shook his head laughing.
"I'm not that bad."
Blake calmed her laughing. "Nah, like I said you're pretty good. But your snowboarding looked epic."
"You ever been?"
She shook her head. "I don't like being cold, and I'm pretty sure I would eat shit."
"It's like surfing. You have to respect the mountain just like the ocean though." He spoke.
"Mother nature does have a way of making us feel small, doesn't she?" Blake tapped her spoon in her bowl. She was contemplating what to tell him. If she should tell him anything or not.
"Well, if it makes you feel better, I googled you too."
Blake could feel her face turn pink.
"I'm sure you didn't find as much as you have on the internet." She knew there was one thing she hoped not many people would find on the internet, but she knew if you looked hard enough, you'd find it.
"I saw a few surfing championships," he paused, wondering if it was crossing a line, but proceed, "And an accident report."
Of course he found it.
