(Still Derek)
The sun shown through the windows and my eyes opened slowly to see the blinding light. I groaned and rolled over. Something caught my attention though, the smell of breakfast. I smirked and climbed out of bed. Walking down the hall I found, like everyday, that I loved this house more and more. It was a simple house, out in the middle of no where. It had four levels and the best wooden floors I had ever seen. Four stories may seem too big,but it's perfect for my wife and I. The stairs creeked and moaned under my feet as I journied to the smell of Melissa's amazing food. In the kitchen stood Melissa, back turned to me, and our daughter was seated at the table muching on bacon.
"Daddy!" Marcy said with excitement. Melissa turned around and gave me a smile I could love forever. It was warm and tender, and I don't know how she does it. I approached her and gave her a soft kiss on her lips. Opening my eyes, she grinned and handed me a few letters. Mail. I flipped through and found a letter from my mother, who was never around when I was young. The letter said how much she missed me blah blah blah. I tossed it aside and found another letter that seemed to shine dimmly through the folded paper. There was no message, instead there was a wing. Yellow. And no bigger than a bumblebee. Marcy glanced over with curiousity and I quickly hid it from her eyes.
I folded it back neatly and decided I would tell Melissa later. This weekend shouldn't be spoiled with business from years ago. Like Melissa and I have planned, it should be us and our daughter out here, nothing else.
