Jasmine was lounging on her grandmother's porch, soaking up the afternoon sun with her three brothers. The sound of laughter and playful banter filled the air, a moment of peace in their otherwise turbulent lives.

Jasmine spotted someone approaching and groaned. "Oh, here comes this bitch."

Marcus, striding up the path, had a scowl on his face. "Naww, fuck all of that," he muttered under his breath.

Jasmine stood up, crossing her arms. "The fuck you over here for?"

"Maila, who else, bitch?" Marcus spat.

Trey, Jasmine's older brother, stepped forward protectively. "Ay, watch how you talk to my sister."

"The fuck you think this is?" Marcus retorted, pulling out a gun. Instantly, all three of Jasmine’s brothers drew their own weapons, tension crackling in the air.

Jasmine started to say something, "Y’all ne—"

But before she could finish, Grandma Clara emerged from the house, her presence commanding immediate respect. "Now I know y’all ain’t finna start this foolishness on my porch."

Reluctantly, everyone lowered their guns, the atmosphere still charged with aggression.

Trey turned to his grandmother. "Sorry, Grandma, we just had a little miscommunication."

Jasmine, her eyes still locked on Marcus, repeated, "Like I said, I haven’t seen her since she went missing. No calls, no nothing."

Marcus narrowed his eyes. "You lying, but that’s a’ight."

Clara stepped forward, her voice firm but gentle. "Now I know you better than this, boy. Yo daughter already paid the price. Now go on home."

Marcus hesitated for a moment, his gaze softening slightly under Clara’s stern look. "Bye then," he muttered, turning on his heel and walking away.

As Marcus disappeared down the street, Grandma Clara shook her head, sighing. "This mess needs to end before more lives are lost."
