"I'll light the fireplace, Princess Carmine."
I felt a blush creep up on my cheek. A churning sensation that made my nose scrunch.
She gestured at my ragged clothes.
Vervain's eyes dipped to my bodice.
"There's a dressing room attached to the bathroom," she said, her voice a low murmur. "Unless you prefer some...privacy."
Nananadya ba siya? If ganoon, pwes, let me check first if she has trimmed her nails.
Teka lang! Ang landi! That's not what I was implying!
"I can manage," I choked out.

The blizzard outside felt like my emotions. Unstoppable. I picked out a robe that could fit this body. Some of our vital stats are pretty similar and despite her being frail and small, may ipamagmamalaki naman kaming dalawa. I grinned at that thought.
I sat on the edge of the bed while wearing a satin robe.
It has a green thick liquid inside. The pungent scent of herbs filled the air. My back reached the headboard as she groaned.
"Just down it in one go, Carmine," Vervain said.
Mahina akong natawa. "Isang shot lang 'to? Seryoso?"
Instead, she knelt before me.
"Ugh," I scrunched up my nose, staring at the suspicious concoction while going closer towards me. "It smells like swamp water," I whined.
She chuckled and it started to sound like music to my ears. "Sige na. 'Wag na matigas ang ulo."
"Oo na po." I sighed as I lifted the glass.
Vervain's hand reached out, hovering over mine. As our fingers brushed, it sent a spark that made me flinch.
Confirmation. She trimmed her nails. May pag-asang madiligan.
"Here, just swallow it directly," Vervain said.
"On the second thought, let me try it first. Baka may lason."
"Wait!" I blurted out. "You don't have to."
Vervain's lips curved into a knowing smile. "Sharing is caring, Carmine," she said.
Her smile faded and it was replaced by her twitching eyes. "Ugh." She covered her mouth and took Wisteria's hand to hold the glass.
Vervain spluttered. "You weren't kidding about the swamp water."
I couldn't help but laugh. Ang engot naman nito. Iinumin ko naman talaga kahit anong lasa. Did she just drank if first just to make sure? What in the world of bare minimum is this or not?
Taking a deep breath, I mustered up my courage. "Bottoms up then."
I shuddered, the aftertaste clinging to my throat. "Pwe! Lasang tae!"
