The sun was setting as Rose and Aaron waited near the gym, the fading light casting long shadows on the pavement. They watched as the basketball players trickled out, laughing and chatting, oblivious to the turmoil brewing in their midst. Finally, Jaden emerged, looking tired and lost in thought.

"Now's our chance," Rose whispered, her eyes narrowing with determination. "Let's corner him before he gets away."

Aaron nodded, his heart pounding. "Ready when you are."

They approached Jaden, who looked up in surprise as they stepped into his path. "Hey, what's going on?" he asked, a hint of wariness creeping into his voice.

"We need to talk," Rose said, her tone leaving no room for argument. "About Leana."

Jaden's face paled, his eyes darting around as if seeking an escape. "I-I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, cut the crap, Jaden," Aaron snapped, stepping forward. "We know you're involved in something shady. We've seen the messages and heard the conversation at the warehouse. Start talking."

Jaden swallowed hard, his fear evident. "Look, I didn't hurt Leana. I tried to warn her, but she didn't listen."

"Warn her about what?" Rose demanded, her eyes boring into him.

Jaden hesitated, his hands shaking. "About 'The Game.' It's... it's not what you think. There's someone else-someone more dangerous pulling the strings."

"Who?" Aaron pressed, frustration and impatience simmering in his voice. "Who's behind all this?"

Jaden's eyes flickered with terror as he glanced around again, as if expecting the mysterious figure to materialize out of the shadows. "I can't say. If they find out I talked to you, I'm dead."

Rose softened her approach slightly, sensing his genuine fear. "Jaden, we're not here to hurt you. We just want the truth. Help us understand what's going on."

Jaden looked at her, his fear mingling with a glimmer of hope. "I-I can't say much, but there's this guy-goes by 'Blackbird.' He's the one pulling the strings. Leana found out too much, and... and that's why she's gone."

"Blackbird," Aaron muttered, exchanging a look with Rose. "We've heard that name before. He's connected to Mr. Blackford, our history teacher."

Jaden's eyes widened. "Blackford? That makes sense. He's involved too, but he's not the top dog. Blackbird is the one you need to worry about."

Rose felt a chill run down her spine. "So Blackbird ordered Leana's death?"

Jaden nodded miserably. "Yes. She was getting too close to the truth. I tried to warn her, but she wouldn't listen. She thought she could handle it."

Rose's heart ached with the memory of her friend's determination and bravery. "And what about you, Jaden? Are you involved willingly, or are they blackmailing you too?"

Jaden looked down, shame and fear written all over his face. "It started with blackmail. I owed some people money, and they threatened to ruin my life if I didn't cooperate. Now I'm in too deep to get out."

Aaron sighed, his anger tempered by a reluctant understanding. "Alright, Jaden. We're going to need more information if we're going to take these guys down. Can you help us?"

Jaden looked at them, desperation and hope warring in his eyes. "I'll try. But you have to promise to keep me out of it. If Blackbird finds out I talked, I'm dead."

Rose placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "We'll do our best. Just tell us what you know, and we'll figure out a way to protect you."

Jaden nodded, taking a deep breath. "Alright. There's a meeting tonight at the old factory by the river. Blackbird will be there. If you can get in, you might find the evidence you need."
