Second choices and second chances
Always left behind in the dances
Of love and life, never quite enough,
A constant struggle, a bittersweet touch
Left waiting and wondering why
Why can't I be the best, not second or third in line
To be chosen, respected, and adored
To be desired, and not ignored.
Always the backup plan
A fallback, a way to pass the time
Never enough to satisfy
This longing, this emptiness inside
Always waiting, always hoping
For a chance to shine
To be the first, not the last
To be the love, not the past
Left behind, always second best
No matter how hard I try
To be the one, the first you want
Love seems to pass me by
Forever wondering what it is
That makes me good enough to be your choice
Yet never quite reaching that plateau
Feeling like a disappointment, an oversight
A constant cycle of hope and pain
A never-ending game
Of being close, but not quite there
Of being enough, but not quite fair
Always second, never first
This cycle, it must end
For love isn't meant to be a competition
But a partnership, a true connection.
