Clearing The Air

[Chapter 3]

After he finished getting rid of the fire and healing villagers he practically dragged me to the house. "Listen I-" He interrupted me. "'Listen' what. I told you NOT to go out there. And what the fuck did you do?" He screamed at me out of anger. "Go out." "Don't you know how FUCKING dangerous that was? You could've gotten killed, taken away, or WORSE!" "I-i just wanted to help the villagers-" "I was helping the villagers! You could've just stayed here where it was safe. But NO, having to do what you're told is too much for you! Why are you so fucking stubborn?!"

The room went silent when Mindo stormed off to his room. Which left me with my own thoughts. My own little voices. The ones I hate. The ones that make me think about my decisions. The ones that make me feel bad. The ones that blame me- Mindo walked back in. "I just realized you need to eat. So I'm making you something." Mindo said as he prepared a sandwich with chips and guacamole. He serves it to me with a glass of Lemonade. "You're welcome." He said sarcastically. "Thanks." I responded and then started staring at my food.

Even with another person around, I couldn't help but almost let my thoughts consume me. But then, Mindo snapped me out of it. "Aren't you gonna eat? Don't make me feed you." Mindo teased me and I finished the meal he provided for me. Since I forgot my memories I haven't eaten a full meal. This was technically savory to me, even though it wasn't much. "Look, I'm sorry for lashing out on you like that-" "No I'm sorry. I really should've listened to you in the first place. You had it covered." I said. It was true, I way have thought I was doing the right thing, but my foolishness got myself and others hurt.

I was debating whether to bring up how Mindo was able to heal me and the villagers. I didn't. We were somewhat getting on better after our argument a few moments ago. I didn't want to mess that up. "Hey Bree." Mindo began to say. "Can you change your eye color?" He asked and I shook my head. "I don't know how." "Well to change your eye color all you have to do is close your eyes and imagine the eye color you want. You should change it to either white or yellow." He said. I did just that. I made sure to concentrate and waited on Mindo's approval.

"Yup, they're different. They're yellow." He clarified. "So what are we gonna do about the.. Situation?" I asked. "I'm gonna contact the lord." "This village still has a lord?" Mindo nodded. "Four villages make up a Masign Kingdom. To my knowledge we're the last kingdom standing. Not to mention the only known surviving villages are in this kingdom. Our village name is the Histeria Ren Wood Village. The others are Restia Village, Lesunia Rock Village, and Eagle Watch Village." He explained.

"What's our lord name?" I questioned with curiosity. "Lord Davis Quinn. The heir to the throne is Princess Mariel and the younger one is Princess Lisianna, but she's been missing for a few months now. They don't share the same mother because Lord Davis had a kid with his mistress a few years after Princess Mariel was born. Lord Davis later divorced his wife at the time, Lady Mary, to marry Tiara Eastwood. She then got sick from a chronic disease and passed. No one dares speak of the Ladies anymore because of that." He stated. "How do you know so much about this? You're not even in the main village where the castle is!" I expressed.

"I count as a noble so I have to go there a lot. Plus I'm pretty good friends with Mariel." He responded. "Who makes the tech stuff here?" I questioned yet again. "You seem to have a lot of questions today. We have an inventor named Lucy here, she makes all types of stuff from phones to just really cool inventions. It's amazing how she can practically make anything! Not to mention she has an AMAZING personality. She's super kind and outgoing, not to mention a bit of an airhead. You'd love to meet her!" He said enthusiastically.

"That's a lot of high praise." I chuckled. It was so obvious he had a crush on her. But I didn't say anything. I'm also guessing she's the person who Mindo was talking to when I first came here. "Anyone else that has an important role here?" Mindo was in his thoughts and then he answered. "Our main healer is Leesin, and he's also the librarian's son. Who is also really nice! Leesin and Lucy are Destruction Masigns but they have to change their eye color since the Lord doesn't believe in people being in a higher tier than his 'royal family.'" He said the last part sarcastically.

I gave him a look of confusion and he took the hint to explain. "Lord Davis doesn't believe that people in the kingdom should be in a higher Masign tier than them. He found out one time, about my mom a few years after I was born. He sent her away. Then he found out about my dad. He wasn't as compliant as my mother.. So the Lord thought it would be best to execute him. I was almost executed as well since Lord Davis was almost completely sure I was a Destruction Masign too since both my parents were one. Mariel convinced them not to." He said.

"I know this is probably REALLY REALLY insensitive but uh..." I stopped myself because I wasn't sure if I wanted to bring up him being a destruction Masign. "But..? You're just gonna leave me hanging here?" "Well... Do you currently know where your mom is?" I asked, trying to play it off. Mindo went completely silent for a little while. "...Of course not. If I did I wouldn't be so bothered explaining that to you. What type of dumb question is that?" He replied coldly "It's late. Night." He went to his room and he sounded angry. Maybe I was better off being quiet or saying what I was originally gonna say.
