Moving day

Waking up in the woods is always serene, except the days we're interrupted. Luckily today is peaceful.
I stare at the trees, listen to the birds and the wind. I'm up before the others most days, catching a moment alone to just exist.

I get up to relieve the twins, who made breakfast at the end of their night watch.  They go to get a nap in, as Cole and Jasmine are getting up to start our day.

"Everyone have their bags packed? I'll carry the food. We need to get a couple miles away." Cole says, right to business as usual.
"I believe everyone is ready to go, want to get in a morning training session?"

We had been training since I joined the group. My fighting has improved greatly.

We headed to the center of our clearing, getting in position to spar. We take a second to analyze eachother. I look at my friend, he had light blonde hair and brown eyes, mildly tan skin from our days spent out in the sun. A far contrast from his beautiful mates dark brown skin and almost black curls she keeps pulled back into a messy puff. I searched his built form for any weak points, though I know already he won't give any away.

We start sparring in human form, laying punches and kicks where we can. Once we've warmed up we switch to our wolves.  We do a decent amount of sparring, but don't get too rough do to the move we're preparing for.

"You've improved a lot since we started last year, I'm impressed. You managed to get me down a few times."

"Well you're a good teacher, plus it's fun to kick your ass all the time." I joke.
We start walking back to the camp pushing eachother around when a black wolf darts at us from the side and tackles Cole. We laugh and I take that as my cue, Jasmine wants to run with her mate.

I climb my tree and watch them run off nipping at eachothers tails and playing together.

Jealousy floods my heart. Not over either of them, but over what they have, what I was cast aside for. The mate bond is a beautiful thing. Growing up I never really contemplated what it would be like to meet one's true mate, there weren't a lot around and I knew not to get my hopes up. Now I've seen two couples find their perfect soul bond, and I know it's something to wish for, to wait for. I know I'd never have been happy with Devin, nor he with I, because we weren't made for eachother.

After getting lost in sketching for a while Cole called everyone together, it was time to move. We all packed our bags onto our backs, Cole grabbing the large bag of preserved foods as well as his personal items, and we headed off.

Cole and Jasmine walked ahead, while Macy flitted around taking pictures, leaving me with Maya.

The twins are beautiful, nearly identical. They have auburn hair that falls in light waves, Maya keeps hers braided while Macy keeps hers loose. Both girls are slender and tall, as apposed to my curvy 5'4 build with curly ling hair that frizzes up when introduced to any humidity.

"It's nearly your birthday," Maya stated.
I nod, there's a month left.
"I was supposed to be taking over a pack for my birthday, instead I'll be hanging out with all of you. Maybe you and Macy can make me a cake?"

She glances at her sister and smiles.
"I'm sure we can make it work. Won't be the prettiest thing over the fire but it'll taste good!"
I smile, enjoying the walk with my friends.

" hey Cole! How far are we going?" I hear Maya shout.

"Not much longer, but we're too close to pack boarders right now."

"Which pack?" I ask.

Before he could answer we hear snarls circle around us.
