"Do you have to go?" Simone mumbled, dragging her fingers over his chest. No, he wanted to say. No, I don't have to go anywhere. I'll stay here with you for as long as you want.
"I do" Bucky smiled, grabbing her hand and pressing it to his lips. "Not missing any birthday parties is very important if you wanna keep your spot as favorite uncle." He explained.
"...I'm gonna miss you" Simone pressed herself closer. It felt a bit stupid to say it out loud. It was only for a night.
Bucky's eyes searched her face intently, his thumb brushing against her cheek, the corners of his mouth tugging upwards.
"What?" Simone looked at him suspiciously, she knew that look.
"Come with me" He whispered.
"To Clint's house?" She chuckled, almost as if the idea was preposterous.
"Yes" Bucky grinned
"He hates me" She sighed.
"What? Why do you think that?" Bucky asked, genuinely confused.
"Because he hates Isaac" She whispered.
"...yes, uhm—Isaac is definitely not invited" Bucky clarified, making Simone laugh. He rolled over, pinning her between the warm weight of his body and the mattress. The crates creaked loudly, mixing in with the sound of her giggles. This was everything. Everything he could've wanted. Just like this. Right here. He couldn't stop grinning.
"And not because Clint hates him, because I hate him" Bucky whispered, pressing soft kisses along her jaw, moving down her throat. "Come. It'll be fun. I want you there." He mumbled, and she could feel his warm words against her skin. I want you there. It made her heart beat faster.
"What if they don't like me?" Simone giggled, trying to disguise the nervousness in her tone.
"They'll love you" Bucky responded as if it was a certainty. They'll love you because I love you, is what he wanted to say. They'll love you because, what's not to love?
"When?" She smiled, sounding slightly more convinced.
Bucky lifted his head from where it was buried in her chest, and peeked over at the clock on the wall.
"We'll leave in an hour" He smiled up at her.
"An hour?!" Simone jumped up, digging her elbow into the mattress. "I don't have any proper clothes. I didn't buy a gift! We have to stop at the petrol station or the car wo—" Simone blurted out, her words tripping over themselves on the way out of her mouth.
Bucky just laughed and pushed her back down.
"Slow...down" He whispered, making Simone relax her shoulders a bit. "What did we practice?" He raised a playful eyebrow at her. He knew how much she hated it when he made her do this. But her little angry pout was so endearing to him.
Simone rolled her eyes, trying to look away when she felt his fingers brush along her jaw, turning her gaze back to him.
Simone took a deep breath.
"Happy?" She mumbled.
"Very" He whispered, pressing a quick kiss to her lips.
"I want to make a good impression. I know Clint is like family to you" This hadn't actually ever been said out loud. But Simone had done plenty of observing, watching how they interacted, seeing how protective Clint was.
"It's just a children's birthday party. It's just one night." Bucky smiled. "And you...are a delight." He exaggerated, making an awful attempt at Simone's accent.
