'No. You're an assassin. Aren't you.' Kai told her, narrowing his blue, mono lid eyes.
She didn't respond. She only looked into his eyes. Planning her next move. Planning on how to disarm him. And planning on how to make sure it doesn't hurt that bad; which was quite unusual, considering that she always made sure that it hurt.
'I'll take that as a yes, Ms. Scarletta Reuben.' He spoke her name mockingly, despite the fact that that he's probably thinking of what her ring size is.
Clearly, this idiot wasn't quite sure how to flirt.
Ayeza reached into her pocket, taking out a bundle of cash — One-thousand USD, 'Take it and keep your life.'
'No, thank you, Madame,' He chuckled, not trying to mock her, but simply amused by her threat, 'You're not the only assassin around here.'
'What are you, a spy?' She said with the most skeptical tone ever. She successfully hid the surprise in her voice. Who did this bastard think he was? She thinks to herself.
'An assassin. Just as much one as you are." He looked her dead in the eye, smirking. He was probably thinking of himself as smiling, but as far as she knew, he was smirking at her.
'Don't kid me, Kai.' She stood up, going to touch his hand on the gun barrel, when he backed a step away — giving her space and time to think.
'I'm not kidding, Ms. Scarletta Rueben.' He spoke her middle name again, less mocking, more formally.
'Fine, now that the both of us are well-aware of each other's identities, now what?' She glared at him, narrowing her eyes further, not breaking eye contact with him.
'I say: we tell each other every secret we have,' He leans into her, 'We need to trust each other.'
'Why?'
'What "why?"?'
'I mean, why do we need to trust each other? Why should I trust you?'
'I could leak you out.' He joked. Of course, he wouldn't tell the damn cops. He's an assassin himself. At trial, if there would be one, she could just as easily leak him out. But, he wanted to see her reaction. He just wanted to try getting a rise out of her.
'And I could leak your dumbass out too.' She said, narrowing her dark, chocolate-brown eyes.
'Touché.'
'Heh.' She smirked at him, 'Alright, so, now what, ay?'
'Hm-' He spoke, that was, until a bullet pierced through Ayeza's thigh. He felt his eyes widen as he smelt Arctine. The one poison which hurts, and could possibly kill, vampires. It pierces through her skin as the crimson liquid pours out, going down her knees, staining her baggy, beige, cargos, 'SHIT-' was all he managed to say before rushing to her side, resisting the urge to drink the blood that poured out. But, somehow, it wasn't as alluring as it should've been.
He didn't want to suck her blood, he wanted to kiss her eyelids and tell her everything was alright.
In that moment, he didn't care what would happen next. As the train shook and came to stop at Boston city, he ran, taking her bags as well as his, throwing the strap of both bags on either shoulder of his. He carried her in his hands, keeping his veiny hands on the back of her knee and her back to support her. He ran as fast he could on his long legs, making use that her head was kept on his chest. He got inside the limo that was prepared by his father, his chauffeur chuckling at the sight of him being a gentleman and bringing her inside.
'DRIVE, AGNEL. DRIVE, U BASTARD!'
'Yes, but calm down, Mr. Frost.' Agnel responded. Despite being a vampire himself, Agnel Roland — a vampire who's over 4,000 years old; is Kai's chauffeur. And he has been, ever since the Kai's father rose to his powerful and wealthy position.
As they travelled by limo to his estate, Ayeza nuzzled her face into Kai's neck, mumbling incoherent words with her warm breath in his neck. He held her hips tighter, fearing the thought of losing her. He wanted this moment to stay this way forever, her warm breath on his neck, his vein, pale, big hands wrapped around her hips, their breathing pattern aligned with each other, her long black hair draped on his shoulder. In that moment he realised: He loves her. This was what his Dad wanted.
For him to fall in love with the eyes of a girl.
For Kai to feel... a Zing.
