"Apko samajh mein aa raha hai mom, aap kya bol rahi hai?" Sidharth said angrily. He was upset with his mother for deciding that he would marry Shehnaaz.

Sidharth's mom had been persuading him to marry Shehnaaz, praising her nature, innocence, and everything about her. She wanted Shehnaaz as her daughter-in-law, confident that she would be an excellent wife and daughter-in-law.

It had been a week since their parents decided on this. Shehnaaz's side had agreed to the proposal, but Sidharth was adamantly against it.

"Sidharth, tu meri baat nahi samajh raha hai. Voh bahut acchi hai, tere liye voh perfect hai," said his mother, calmly rubbing his shoulder to soothe his anger.

"Mom, aapne usse ek baar mile aur bina mujhse puchhe yeh shaadi ka decision le liya. Aur uske nature ki baat karne ki, I agree with you Mom but-"

"Lekin?"

Sidharth hesitated. He liked Shehnaaz, but marrying her wasn't what he envisioned. He didn't want to ruin her life. She was innocent like an angel, while he saw himself as someone with flaws and anger issues.

He had concerns about their age gap-13 years was significant. She deserved someone better, someone who matched her youthful spirit.

"Mom, still voh bachhi hai abhi," he explained. His mother understood why he was refusing the marriage proposal.

"Lekin bachhi nahi hai voh, she is 21 years old. Aur agar age gap se problem hai toh yaad diladu ki meri aur teri dad ki bhi 12 saal ka gap tha, phir bhi hum ek khushhaal zindagi jiye," she reasoned.

"Mom, lekin unmein pyaar tha."

"Pyar tum dono ke beech mein bhi ho sakta hai."

"Mom, mera jawab hai - nahi."

"Yeh tumhara final decision hai, Sidharth?"

"Haan mom," he replied, but deep down, he struggled with his true feelings.

"Acha, ab mein tumhe zabardasti nahi karungi agar yeh tumhara final decision hai."

Disappointed, his mother left for her room. She didn't know when Sidharth would stop being so logical about everything.

He called Shehnaaz's mom to convey his decision, apologizing for any hurt caused.

"Koi baat nahi, agar Sidharth ko Sana pasand nahi," said Shehnaaz's mom, trying to hide her disappointment.

Sidharth's mom understood the pain in her friend's voice but knew forcing her son into an unwanted marriage wouldn't be right.

"Sorry," she said, ending the call, feeling bad for Shehnaaz. She knew Shehnaaz liked her son and saw the emotions in Sana's eyes that Sidharth had missed.

At Shehnaaz's house, Sana mom informed the family about Sidharth's decision. Everyone was saddened, feeling pity for Sana.

After hearing the news, Sana bid her parents good night with a painful smile and retreated to her room.

No one stopped her; perhaps being alone at this moment was best for her. Her mom and Varya tried to follow Sana, but they were halted by Sana's father.

Sana's father was seething with anger. He vividly remembered the day they had told Sana about the proposal to marry Sidharth. Sana had been happy and had accepted the proposal eagerly. The image of her smiling face haunted Sana's father.
