**Lily's POV

If Lily had known that being born into this world would only lead to despair, Lily would've chosen to not be born at all. There are moments when Lily wishes for time to be rewound, to a time when her family is happy. All that's left in Lily's life is her father and the cage she has been placed in...

"Lily, must you always act meek at every person you meet? Once you take up my position as Mayor you must face the people with your head held high! You can't continue being this weak!"

"F-f-father, Lily is trying her best... b-but-"

"There you go again with that kind of speech! You are no longer a child! Fix that habit this instant!"

"Y-y-yes... Father..."

Inside the main office of the Steam machine factory, Lily was being scolded by Father, Salas Lillium Mayor of the Lower Class District. Lily was looking down and fidgeting her hands. Father is too scary that Lily can't look at him.

"Currently, the developments are progressing smoothly but if something were to happen to me, you will be taking my place and overturn the injustices in Bauer. Those disgusting Aristocrats and stuck-up Upper Class will fall. Do you understand how important this task is for us and our people?"

"Lil... err... I-I understand, Father. Umm... b-but, is Li- umm... a-am I r-really suited to be Mayor?"

Father sighs and places his hand on his face.

"I have taught you everything that you need to know and the importance of what we are doing. Years of planning will be wasted if it's not you who will succeed me!"

"L-lily... ahh... umm.. I-I am s-s-sorry, Father. I-I will do better."

Father sighs once again then places his hands on Lily's shoulder. He looks at Lily with his scary but lonely gaze.

"Lily, after losing your mother, you are the only one I can rely on to continue my work. I have no one else I can entrust my legacy but you."

Father then hugged Lily tightly. He never does this unless he talks about Mother. The only times Father shows any affection is when he remembers Mother.

"Never forget, Lily. You were born special. A rarity despite being born from two non-Magic citizens. An anomaly to the false laws created by those damned Royals. You are my hope and dreams to crush the hierarchy."

"B-b-but, Father. What about that person? Once they return, we can be a family again. You can also rely on A-"

"Don't you dare speak that person's name in front of me!!"

Father pushes Lily away from him. His expression was now full of anger and became twisted.

"I will never allow them to return so don't ever speak about them again! After what they did to your mother, to this family... THEY HAVE BETRAYED US! THEY ARE DEAD TO ME!"

"I-I-I am s-s-sorry, Father."

Lily shouldn't have mentioned that person. Lily knows full well that Father blames that person for what happened to Mother and the collapse of the Lillium household. However, did that person really betray us? Lily needs to see them once again. Lily needs to hear their side of the story. Unfortunately, Lily doesn't know where they are after all these years. That person probably also has had enough of this family and left.
